Sydney Sweeney Stands By Her Decision to Sell Soap Made from Her Bathwater
Sydney Sweeney is addressing the intense reactions to her collaboration with Dr. Squatch on bathwater soap.
The Euphoria actress, 27, partnered with the men’s personal care brand to launch the limited-edition soap called Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss, featuring a touch of her own bathwater in each bar. This product has stirred up controversy online, with some fans questioning its hygiene while others deem the collaboration disrespectful to Sweeney.
Despite the backlash, Sweeney is defending her latest venture. “I think it’s more entertaining to see everyone else’s reactions,” she shared with E! News during the New York City premiere of her new film Echo Valley on June 4.
Regarding the concept’s origin, Sweeney stated, “I came up with the idea.”
In an interview with People at the film premiere, a reporter suggested that the soap might encourage some men to shower. “I mean, honestly though,” Sweeney replied with a laugh.
Dr. Squatch’s website describes Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss as a “perfect blend of two of the best places on Earth: The great outdoors and Sydney Sweeney’s bathtub.” The soap boasts scents of “pine, Douglas fir, and earthy moss,” along with “a hint of Sydney’s actual bathwater.”
This soap venture follows Sweeney’s ad for Dr. Squatch’s Natural Body Wash in 2024, where she encouraged “dirty little boys” to use the body wash for a more masculine feel.
“You kept asking about my bathwater after the @drsquatch ad … so we delivered,” Sweeney captioned a photo of the soap collaboration on Instagram on May 29. “Introducing Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss! A very real, very limited-edition soap made with my actual bathwater. Available on 6/6/25 at drsquatch.com 🛁✨.”
Throughout the years, Sweeney has openly discussed her experiences with public comments about her body. “People feel connected and free to discuss me however they wish, assuming I’ve given up control of my life,” she explained to Variety in March 2024. “They act like I’m no longer human because I’m an actor. These characters belong to everyone, but Sydney is not for me anymore. It’s an odd dynamic that I can’t manage.”
Last month, Sweeney told The Times of London that “a woman’s body is incredibly empowering, beautiful, and sexy,” adding, “I believe that eventually, I will attain control of my body narrative. I will reclaim the power.”
The controversy surrounding her bathwater soap arises just two months after Us Weekly confirmed that she and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, ended their seven-year relationship. “I’m learning a lot about myself and spending more time with my friends,” Sweeney mentioned while addressing the breakup to The Times of London.
Affirming her single status, Sweeney concluded, “I’m truly enjoying it.”
