Nicole Scherzinger’s Heartfelt Highlights from Her 2025 Tony Awards Speech
Nicole Scherzinger received her first Tony Award for her breathtaking portrayal of Norma Desmond in the celebrated revival of Sunset Blvd.
“First and foremost, I must express my gratitude to God for guiding me every single step of the way. I give you all the glory,” Scherzinger, 46, stated during her acceptance speech on Sunday, June 8. “This Broadway schedule is no joke. I need to keep it real… I’m incredibly honored to be recognized alongside these amazing warrior women in this category. Thank you all.”
Scherzinger was up against Megan Hilty, Audra McDonald, Jasmine Amy Rogers, and Jennifer Simard for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical award.
“I’m so proud to represent,” Scherzinger exclaimed. “I want to thank my mom, who had me at 18 and sacrificed everything for me. My dad and my sister, who instilled an unshakable faith in me. My ohana, my family, all 5,000 of you. You know how much I love you.”
Scherzinger also expressed heartfelt thanks to her fiancé, Thom Evans, “who believes in me even when I forget to believe in myself.”
As the former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman became emotional, she acknowledged her Sunset Blvd. team. (The show also secured the award for Best Revival of a Musical that evening.)
“Andrew Lloyd Webber, it’s finally happened. It’s been such a privilege to create alongside you,” she said, before turning to her onstage partner. “Tom Francis, thank you for allowing me to sever your head every night — every performance. To our exceptional cast, crew, producers, and creatives, I’ll be eternally grateful to you. We absolutely crushed that matinee today, no kidding. This schedule is no joke!”
Scherzinger graciously extended her appreciation to the show’s director, Jamie Lloyd.
“You recognized my potential when no one else did,” she stated. “You’ve opened up new avenues of dreaming for us, and you’ve transformed my life forever. Growing up, I often felt out of place, but you all have made me feel accepted and like I’ve finally found my home!”
The audience at Radio City Music Hall erupted in enthusiastic applause.
“So, for anyone out there who feels like they don’t belong, your moment will come,” she added tearfully. “Don’t give up. Just keep sharing your love and light because the world needs it more than ever. This is proof that love always prevails. Thank you so much.”
Scherzinger previously won the Olivier Award for her performance in Sunset when the production was staged in London in 2024.
