Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell exchanged vows after two years of dating, marking a relationship that felt like love at first sight.
The couple was first seen together in early 2019, with the Emily in Paris actress making their romance Instagram official that August. Just over a year later, Mary Steenburgen’s son proposed.
“It was one of those moments where I knew from the instant I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day, so it was just a question of when,” Collins shared during an appearance on Live With Kelly & Ryan in October 2020, shortly after announcing her engagement.
McDowell popped the question during a road trip in New Mexico. “It was all quite premeditated,” Collins revealed to Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. “He recorded a self-timer video, allowing us to capture some screen grabs later. He orchestrated the entire thing without my knowledge, of course. … I was genuinely taken by surprise, but it was exactly what I had hoped for, and he knows me so well.”
Collins and McDowell tied the knot in September 2021 at Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado. “This moment will forever play inside my head,” the groom wrote in an Instagram post, while Lily expressed, “I’m so excited to be your WIFEY ❤️🔥.”
