Anne Hathaway Addresses Viral Facelift Rumors Head-On
Anne Hathaway clarified the rumors regarding plastic surgery.
In a recent interview with Elle published on Thursday, May 21, Hathaway, 43, discussed the ongoing speculation about facelifts. “We’re living in a time where people are quick to assume what they believe is true, and sometimes those assumptions aren’t accurate,” she mentioned, explaining that her lifted appearance is thanks to her hairstylist, who braids and pins back sections of her hair near her temples.
“Ideally, I would prefer to remain silent about such things and embrace the mystery without drawing attention to myself. However, the speculation has become so overwhelming that I felt compelled to share my truth,” Hathaway added. “And I will probably always question whether I should have shared that or not,” she said, referencing a video of her hairstylist showcasing her hairstyle.
“Should I have just continued to do what makes me happy and boosts my confidence on the red carpet?” Hathaway reflected. “But the discussion was starting to become distracting.”
“Additionally, these are significant medical decisions that others are assuming,” she continued. “I wanted to clarify that, no, I didn’t make any big medical choices. It’s just two braids.”
Regarding the possibility of a facelift, Hathaway expressed openness to the idea. “And to add, I might still consider getting a facelift one day,” she revealed.
In another part of the interview, Hathaway candidly reflected on being “harsh” towards her younger self.
“One thing I recognize about my younger self is that she was very scared, and that fear made me critical of myself,” the actress shared. “I cringe at the thought that I might have unintentionally been hard on others while being hard on myself. Just thinking about it makes me feel nauseous.”
