Brooke Shields Shares Her Thoughts on Aging in the Public Eye
Brooke Shields remains authentic when discussing the process of aging.
During a January 13 appearance on Good Morning America to promote her memoir, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman, which was released the following day, she shared her thoughts on growing older in the spotlight.
“It’s vital to acknowledge your past, but it’s also liberating to say, ‘I may not know my destination, but I’m present,’” Shields stated. “I aim to look my best and maintain my health,” she added.
Although Shields expressed a desire for certain things to be “a little higher and tighter,” she believes she has “earned every single mark on my face.”
“It’s essential to give yourself credit and ask, ‘What do you want to pursue now?’ You’re no longer bound by biology in the same way,” Shields elaborated.
This isn’t the first time Shields has spoken honestly about aging. Earlier this month, she shared her thoughts with Us Weekly regarding contemporary views on aging.
“Yes, [aging] comes with its challenges, but [women are] no longer bound by the timeline of things: must have kids by a certain age, must be married, must finish school,” she told Us. “Many decades are spent just trying to reach the next milestone. Then comes a shift.”
Shields further explained that with aging has come a greater sense of ambition in her life.
“I feel more deserving. There are still moments of fear and self-doubt. I have to motivate myself to push through, [but] we are becoming impossible to overlook,” said the Pretty Baby star. “We’ve become quite powerful, which I think can be intimidating for everyone.”
