A few weeks ago, Sarah Jessica Parker posted on Instagram about the essentials she takes with her while filming And Just Like That. The mother of three mentioned hand sanitizer, Dior lip gloss, hair ties, Papermate pens, and a Tootsie Roll lollipop in her custom-painted canvas tote—items many moms might often carry. However, what caught my attention was a nostalgic find: a retro drugstore fragrance that evokes memories, Skin Musk perfume.
As Parker showcased each item on Instagram, she shared where she found them and why they hold a special place in her heart. Regarding the fragrance, the ageless 59-year-old remarked, “I mean…Bonne Bell Skin Musk. There’s not much more to say on that,” adding an unmistakable dose of IYKYK to her tone.
If you don’t remember, Bonne Bell was famous for its lip-smacking balms found in every Gen X’s Hello Kitty wallet as children. They also crafted delightful fragrances like Skin Musk that all the trendy kids wore. As a proud elder Gen X herself, SJP is still so fond of it that she can’t leave home without it! Unaware it was still available, I was eager to find this fragrance. Unfortunately, Bonne Bell no longer produces it, but Skin Musk is still available on Amazon, where shoppers claim just one spritz can transport you back to your pre-teen days. Even better, this nostalgic treasure is only $17!
I’m not alone in my nostalgia for the soft floral, sandalwood, and musk scent. Many shoppers are thrilled to rediscover the fragrance, noting it consistently earns compliments. One fan shared, “I have used this musky cologne for over 40 years, dating back to when it was owned by Bonne Bell. It’s still my go-to, and I continue to get compliments on it. It’s a great cologne for an excellent price.”
Another customer chimed in, sharing, “I wore this in my younger days, and when I sprayed it again today, it brought back so many memories. It smelled just like I remembered and lasted for half a day. It’s not overpowering. It’s a warm, inviting scent, and you only need a little bit. It’s such a lovely fragrance. I’d recommend it to anyone.”
This fragrance is also unique for being a perennial favorite. As we eagerly await Carrie Bradshaw’s return on our screens with AJLT season three, we can at least indulge in the joy of smelling like her. Fans report that the bottles frequently sell out and aren’t available in stores, so grab it while you can.
