Chrissy Metz Has Not Received an Offer for a Role in Justin Hartley’s Tracker

Chrissy Metz has revealed that she has not yet received an invitation to join her This Is Us co-star Justin Hartley on his successful show Tracker.

“It’s amusing. Jon Huertas has directed and Sofia [Pernas], Justin’s wife, has appeared on the show. However, I haven’t received a call yet, Mr. Hartley,” Metz, 45, joked during an exclusive conversation with Us on Wednesday, September 16, while promoting her collaboration with Ro.

Metz remains optimistic about possibly receiving an offer down the line.

“Maybe there just isn’t a character for me written yet. We’ll see,” she playfully remarked. “If that’s the case, I’d love to play the antagonist since Justin’s character is the charming good guy.”

Justin Hartley‘s CBS series Tracker has captured viewers with its captivating cases and stellar guest appearances. Premiering in February 2024, the show follows a survivalist named Colter (Hartley) as he travels across the country aiding individuals and law enforcement in solving various mysteries. As the series progresses, audiences discover […]

Hartley, 49, portrays Colter Shaw, a character who utilizes his unique skills and instincts to unravel crimes by uncovering clues that police or families might overlook.

Tracker marks Hartley’s first project since concluding his stint on This Is Us. The acclaimed NBC series, which aired from 2016 until 2022, revolved around siblings Kevin (Hartley), Kate (Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), along with their parents, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore).

Before This Is Us wrapped up, Hartley was already progressing with Tracker, thanks to producer Ken Olin. Not only does Hartley star in Tracker, but he also serves as an executive producer, enabling him to collaborate with several former This Is Us colleagues.

“We were aware for many years about the show’s ending, which is a fortunate opportunity not everyone gets,” Hartley shared during an episode of Tommy DiDario’s podcast “I’ve Never Said This Before” in October 2024. “The chance to portray this character for six years, with all the adventures he embarks on, was phenomenal. I found it remarkable to be involved in that journey.”

When asked if there would be more This Is Us cameos on Tracker, Hartley responded, “I believe we will.”

He further added, “We’ve had discussions about possibly reviving the show in some capacity. I’m unsure if there are any plans for a reboot — I haven’t been part of that yet — but I continue to stay in touch with everyone, as they are fantastic individuals and will remain lifelong friends.”

Besides Metz, Brown, 50, Moore, 42, Chris Sullivan, and Ventimiglia, 49, all have shown interest in appearing on Tracker. While chatting with Us, Metz reminisced about the deep connections formed among the cast.

“Undoubtedly, it has transformed my life in every conceivable way. Recently, while in Europe on vacation, I encountered people who are just now discovering the show, which is amazing. We’ve cultivated a family bond that is truly special and hopefully endures,” she expressed. “I believe it will stand the test of time because it’s a storyline everyone can relate to; it serves as a life guide. Life doesn’t come with a manual, yet we are all trying to navigate it.”

She added, “I miss all my friends dearly. We spent every day together for six years, and I am immensely grateful for that experience. It has left a profound impact on me.”

Metz also took the chance to discuss her health journey since starting Ro, a GLP-1 medication typically used for weight management.

“Initially, I was quite doubtful and conducted extensive research. It was also challenging to access for a while,” she recalled. “That aspect is what I appreciated about Ro; it’s incredibly convenient [and] gets delivered right to my door. I love that I can consult with nurses and doctors via an app, regardless of my location.”

Metz described her experience as “great,” noting, “I’ve experienced minor side effects — all very manageable — and have achieved significant success. Honestly, it has been more advantageous than I anticipated because, who would have thought? I remained a skeptic for a long time.”

According to Metz, her laboratory and blood results have both “significantly improved” since she began treatment.

“I feel more agile and enjoy better sleep,” she remarked. “I managed to perform eight shows a week on Broadway, which is no small accomplishment — I believe that is largely due to the reduced inflammation from the medication, as well as diminishing my preoccupation with food. I used to constantly think about food… and I didn’t believe that it would quiet those thoughts. I thought, ‘No, that’s just me.’ It has been instrumental in enabling me to focus on other aspects of life and creativity, rather than obsessing over food.”

Metz concluded, “What empowers me most is that I’m genuinely doing this for myself. I’ve taken the initiative to research and approach it properly, which feels empowering. Once you are informed, fear dissipates. Many individuals on medications lack the understanding of how to support it with parallel lifestyle changes. That knowledge has been incredibly empowering for me.”
