Dichen Lachman from Severance Shares an Exciting ‘Timeshare’ Concept for Season 3

Severance stands out as one of the most somber series on television; however, star Dichen Lachman has a unique vision for lightening the tone in season 3.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what [creator] Dan Erickson has in store,” Lachman, who portrays Gemma Scout, shared exclusively with Us Weekly during the Severance PaleyFest panel held in Los Angeles on Friday, March 21. “I think it would be amusing if season 3 took on a sitcom vibe, perhaps featuring a timeshare scenario where they all reside in a Friends-like apartment building.”

She elaborated, “They sever from their past lives and then engage in their little timeshare relationships with everyone.”

This could potentially resolve the cliffhanger presented in Friday’s season 2 finale, which concluded with Gemma escaping Lumon without her husband, Mark (Adam Scott), whose “innie” chose to remain on the severed floor with his new love interest, Helly (Britt Lower). The possibility remains that innie Mark may opt for reintegration, though this prospect diminishes as he realizes outie Mark has no desire to support his relationship with Helly.

For the moment, fans are relieved that Gemma (a.k.a. Ms. Casey) has survived her harrowing experience on the research floor. Although Lachman, 43, is uncertain about her character’s future, she connects with Gemma’s “yearning for acceptance and belonging,” despite the toll it takes on her well-being.

Severance’s season 2 finale was packed with unforgettable moments, but nothing surpassed Mr. Milchick’s unexpected marching band performance — and actor Tramell Tillman approached this scene with utmost dedication. “I’m a perfectionist. I put in the hard work because I aim for excellence,” Tillman, 39, expressed exclusively to Us Weekly at the PaleyFest panel in […]

“I believe a lot of individuals can relate to that sentiment, which is partly why they have affection for her,” Lachman remarked to Us. “We all desire connection and acceptance, even when it may not be beneficial for us. Perhaps achieving self-assurance is key, which is something I’m still working on, but it’s a universal struggle. That’s what resonates with me about Ms. Casey.”

Lower, on the other hand, advised fans to temper their expectations concerning any notions sparked by the finale, particularly concerning the intricate dynamics among Helly, Gemma, and Mark.

“On the surface, it resembles a love triangle, but if you know me, I enjoy exploring geometric shapes,” the 39-year-old actress humorously remarked during the PaleyFest panel. “It might be something complex like a tetrahedron or hexagonal prism. To add another layer, perhaps in that pivotal moment, Helly R. experiences love at first sight upon spotting Gemma in the hallway.”

Severance season 2 is currently available for streaming on Apple TV+.
