Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Theme Park Continues Operations Following Her Passing

Dolly Parton will be cherished through her Dollywood Theme Park following her passing.

“With deep sorrow, the Dollywood family mourns the loss of our cherished Dreamer-in-Chief, Dolly Parton,” a message shared via the official Dollywood Instagram account on Tuesday, August 25 stated. “Everyone at Dollywood feels the heartache shared by countless individuals worldwide who were touched by Dolly’s kindness, wisdom, and generous spirit.”

A representative for the theme park released the statement after it was announced that Parton passed away on Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 80.

The message further expressed, “Dolly’s heartfelt wish was for Dollywood to remain a beacon of joy, hope, and unity — a place where families and friends could celebrate her memory, not with silence, but with laughter, music, and shared aspirations.”

In the statement, Dollywood Parks & Resorts President Eugene Naughton highlighted that working alongside Parton to “bring her dreams to life at Dollywood” was the “greatest privilege.”

“Dolly’s heart was as expansive as the mountains she loved, and her compassion was limitless. She inspired generations to dream fearlessly and love wholeheartedly,” Naughton’s message conveyed. “As we mourn her absence, we are honored and dedicated to carrying her spirit forward. Her legacy will shine through every note sung, every smile shared, and every dream ignited within these gates.”

The official Dollywood account remarked that Parton’s “lasting legacy transcends her music and generosity, representing an incredible work ethic — a true inspiration to people everywhere.”

“In her spirit, Dollywood will open Wednesday as Dolly wished, reminding all with her signature sparkle — ‘the show must go on.’ Together, we honor her by continuing her message of love, resilience, and hope,” the message concluded. “Those wishing to commemorate Dolly may consider donating to the organization she cherished, Dolly Parton’s @imaginationlibrary.”

Accompanying the statement was a black-and-white image of Parton alongside the quote, “I will always love you.”

In the days ahead, a “small, private service will be conducted for immediate family,” Parton’s representative shared, urging her “fans and friends from around the world to pay tribute to Dolly” on social media and her website, as per the singer’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
