Exploring Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden’s Surrogacy Journey
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden feel that their family is now “complete” with the arrival of their baby boy, Nautas.
“They are overjoyed to welcome [another] son into their family,” a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly just days after Diaz, 53, and Madden, 47, shared the news of their third child’s birth. “Few people in their circle were aware because they weren’t certain it would actually happen.”
Diaz and Madden, who married in 2015, are also parents to daughters Raddix, 6, and son Cardinal, 2. All three children were born via surrogate.
“Cameron feels incredibly grateful for the amazing surrogates who helped them, as it has been a long journey for her and Benji,” the insider adds. “This is precisely what they have always envisioned, making their family feel whole.”
Madden shared the news of their youngest son’s birth on Instagram on May 4.
“Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world, Son!!👊❤️,” he wrote in his post. “We love life with our family—our kids are healthy & happy, and we are grateful!!!🙏🙏 Having a blast ❤️ Sending all our best wishes- the Madden Family ❤️🙏👊🏴☠️.”
Diaz responded with, “✨❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✨.”
In addition to his caption, Madden posted a One Piece-themed graphic that illustrated the meaning behind Nautas’ name. The name originates from the Latin word “nauta,” signifying “sailor, navigator, voyager.”
“One who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown,” the graphic expressed. “Chart your own course. Keep your compass true. The world is yours.”
Nautas’ arrival comes just over a year after Diaz made her return to acting following nearly a decade-long hiatus. She starred in Netflix’s Back in Action in January 2025 alongside Jamie Foxx, followed by the AppleTV movie Outcome, which premiered on April 10. Diaz is also set to film the upcoming movies Bad Day and Shrek 5.
“Cameron has been very intentional with her choice of recent acting projects and doesn’t feel she is fully re-entering the industry yet,” the insider tells Us. “She is gradually easing back in while remaining focused on her organic wine brand, Avaline.”
As for Diaz and Madden, the couple “currently cherishes their life in Montecito, embracing a really low-key lifestyle.”
“This has allowed them to raise their children away from the limelight, which was their intention,” the source concludes. “[Diaz’s] primary focus is on family right now, and she wouldn’t want it any other way.”
