Grace Kelly’s Granddaughter Dons Her Iconic Dress 60 Years Later
Princess Alexandra of Hanover took inspiration from her late grandmother Grace Kelly.
The 27-year-old dazzled in a vintage Givenchy dress adorned with beads, originally worn by Kelly, who passed away at the age of 52 in 1982.
In a photo shared on Instagram, Alexandra looked stunning in the dress, showcasing thick straps, a scoop neckline, a fitted bodice, and a petite train. The royal, daughter of Princess Caroline, completed her look with a black clutch, a delicate necklace, and her exquisite yellow diamond trilogy engagement ring from her long-term partner Ben-Sylvester Strautmann.
Opting for a subtle yet glamorous style, Alexandra chose soft makeup that included black eyeliner, mascara, rosy cheeks, and pink-lined lips. Her strawberry blonde hair was styled in a center part and elegantly blown out.

Kelly first donned the gown in 1962 while attending the wedding of Don Juan Carlos de Borbon, the Prince of Spain, and Princess Sofia of Greece, in Athens. For the occasion, she accessorized the dress with a diamond necklace and earrings, white gloves, a small handbag, and a sash draped across her chest. The elegant look was further enhanced by soft makeup featuring long lashes and a sleek bun.
Kelly attended the wedding with her spouse, Rainier III of Monaco, who passed away at 81 in 2005.
Kelly and Rainier III were wed in April 1956. They welcomed their first child, Caroline, now 69, the following year. In 1958, they expanded their family with the arrival of Prince Albert II, now 68, followed by Princess Stéphanie, now 61.
