Jaxson Dart Faces Backlash for Introducing Donald Trump
The quarterback for the New York Giants, Jaxson Dart, is facing significant criticism after his introduction of President Donald Trump at a recent political rally.
“Big Blue Nation, it’s a joy to be here,” Dart, 23, stated to the audience in Suffern, New York, on Friday, May 22, during a rally for Republican congressman Mike Lawler, who is seeking reelection in a challenging swing district. “What an honor and privilege it is to be here, and without further ado, I’m thankful, I’m honored, and I’m excited to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States, President Donald J. Trump.”
Dart then shook hands with the nearly 80-year-old president as he took the stage.
“I want to extend my thanks to Jaxson Dart,” Trump remarked after the introduction, praising the young quarterback’s football talent. “In my opinion, this is going to be a future Hall of Famer. Thank you, Jaxson. A lot of talent here.”
The president went on to mention Dart several times throughout his speech, noting at one point the NFL player’s physical attributes, calling him a “beautiful guy” with “legs like tree trunks.”

“I’m looking at Jaxson,” Trump commented while addressing his aim to prohibit transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. “Is there any woman in the crowd who thinks they can tackle that guy? Because I’d like to meet you. I want to shake your hand. I don’t know. Jaxson, do you think you could compete against women?”
The president then added, “Don’t get involved, Jaxson. Don’t answer that question.”
Although Dart’s comments were brief and his appearance on stage was short-lived, he faced backlash online from some fans and even a few teammates.
“This stuff looked like AI, what are we doing man?” linebacker and fellow 2025 first-round pick Abdul Carter posted on X on Saturday, May 23, while sharing a clip of the rally and Dart’s brief introductory remarks.
Dart did not comment on the online criticism from his teammates at the time of publication.
Veteran Giants offensive tackle Jermaine Eleumunor appeared to defend Dart, advising New York Daily News’ Giants beat writer Pat Leonard to “calm down” in reaction to his response to Dart’s campaign rally appearance.
Dart is set to embark on his second season in the NFL this fall, having wrapped up his rookie year with a record of 4-8, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished fourth in the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award voting.
