Logan Lerman Joins the Cast of Only Murders in the Building for Season 5
Season 5 is set to be another star-studded installment of Only Murders in the Building.
Logan Lerman is the latest addition to the cast, taking on a recurring role this season, as reported by Variety. While details about Lerman’s character remain under wraps, he joins notable names like Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, and Keegan-Michael Key, with production already underway.
Selena Gomez shared a sneak peek of Lerman on set through a photo on Saturday, April 5, captioned, “A few memories.” Since its debut in 2021, Only Murders in the Building has showcased a blend of celebrity cameos and stars portraying fictional roles.
In its first season, the show featured Jane Lynch, Mark Consuelos, Tina Fey, and Nathan Lane as fictional characters, while Jimmy Fallon made an appearance as himself. The second season included the likes of Amy Schumer, Sting, and others appearing as fictionalized versions of themselves. Season 3 introduced Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep as fictional characters, while Matthew Broderick showed up as himself. Most recently, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis played elevated versions of themselves in the latest season.
Creator John Hoffman discussed with Us Weekly the show’s ongoing commitment to bringing in star-studded cameos every season.
“There may be some surprises coming up that I think there’s great potential for. I hope we can arrange it and make it happen,” he shared with Us in October 2023. “There are several individuals I would love to collaborate with, and I believe I might get that chance here.”
Season 5 of the hit Hulu series picks up after the wedding of Oliver (Martin Short) and Loretta (Meryl Streep). Shortly after the ceremony, Mabel (Gomez) and Charles (Steve Martin) were approached by a woman (Téa Leoni) asking for their assistance in finding her missing husband. When they declined, by the next morning, Lester (Teddy Coluca) became the new victim at the Arconia.
“It’s always an unusual experience with our season finales because we have to start there first in many ways before we can even begin episode 1. We detail everything that actually happened,” Hoffman explained to Decider in October 2024. “Then we work backwards, twisting our way to the front of the season with that mystery narrative. Much of it is simply a burst of truth at the end in humorous ways, and then we build around that, trying new approaches that we haven’t attempted before.”
The upcoming season is expected to delve deeper into Lester’s life.
“Our cherished doorman has a wealth of secrets from a large number of tenants within our buildings, and many aspects of his life were intriguing for me to explore. The nature of a doorman in a pre-war apartment building in New York City in 2025 makes for fascinating storytelling,” Hoffman remarked. “[It] felt highly engaging to examine in relation to what our show has always been about, which is blending classic elements with modern themes. We are truly embarking on a version of New York City in season 5 that feels particularly relevant to contemporary issues like we have never done before.”
He continued: “We’re going into a modern take on power dynamics in New York, exploring what occurs with authority in contrast to the traditional respect and established protocols that are typical in these kinds of buildings, including the role of the doorman and the associated respect. We’ll also touch on how modern technology plays into this narrative. Some of these themes will be addressed in the upcoming season, delivered with comedic flair while hopefully shining a light on important topics in ways we’ve yet to explore.”
Only Murders in the Building is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
