Matlock’s Skye P. Marshall Playfully Suggests Jason Ritter Would Get Kidnapped on Tracker
Skye P. Marshall from Matlock has mentioned that Jason Ritter is interested in joining the cast of Tracker — and she has some thoughts on how he could integrate into Justin Hartley’s popular CBS series.
After receiving the Breakthrough Talent award at the 7th Annual African-American Film Critics Association TV Honors, Marshall had an exclusive conversation with Us Weekly about Ritter’s potential crossover idea for Matlock and Tracker.
“Jason comes to set now, squinting and attempting to portray a rugged persona. We’re like, ‘Can you please stop?’” she joked. “He’ll prop his foot up on the chair and squint like James Dean. It makes my stomach churn. I was like, ‘You’re not a rugged guy, OK?’”
Nonetheless, Marshall would still love to see Ritter, 45, share the screen with Hartley, 48. “I can picture him as the guy who gets kidnapped,” she laughed. “Please, let’s not give Jason Ritter a gun.”
In a separate interview with Us last month, Ritter shared his thoughts on his character Julian’s potential new chapter post the shocking revelations of Matlock — possibly including a crossover into Tracker.
“If Tracker ever seeks a partner for Justin’s character, Colter, maybe Julian leaves the firm and embarks on a new journey,” Ritter proposed. “Just two rugged guys.”
Ritter continued sharing more crossover ideas, saying, “Elsbeth is right there. Not only do we air on the same night, but it also involves the legal world. I think it would be a blast.”
He added: “I sincerely admire Carrie Preston and believe she’s phenomenal. I’d love to see Elsbeth’s dynamic in an episode of Matlock — or vice versa. Sometimes they host dual episodes where they intersect. That would be a dream!”
Marshall echoed similar sentiments regarding Matlock and Elsbeth.
“I’d love to connect with Wendell Pierce’s character on Elsbeth, given that we’re both in New York,” she suggested to Us. “Perhaps Jacobson & Moore need to step in or they require the cops to assist. Can you imagine Carrie Preston teaming up with Kathy Bates? Elsbeth and Matlock? Their quirky, awkward chemistry is a crossover I want to see!”
Matlock, which debuted in September 2024, follows wealthy retired lawyer Madeline Kingston (Kathy Bates), who disguises herself as a poor widow named Matty Matlock to secure a position at Jacobson Moore law firm. It appears that Matty suspects someone within the firm is implicated in the opioid crisis that led to her daughter’s demise.
Marshall’s portrayal of Olympia has garnered praise from both fans and critics, earning her accolades like the Breakthrough Talent recognition at the AAFCA.
“Honestly, I’m just feeling very emotional,” she shared with Us. “I’ve encountered many men and women here who supported me when no one recognized me and no one was returning my calls. To witness them looking at me and smiling has me fighting back tears.”
Matlock returns to CBS on Sunday, October 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET before settling into its regular Thursday night slot on October 16. New episodes will be available the following day on Paramount+.
