Having worked in the magazine industry for six years, I’ve never seen Meghan Markle’s skin look anything but flawless. She always achieves that perfect foundation look—just enough coverage but never overdone—which I’ve been trying to replicate. The secret has finally come to light: she uses a second-skin foundation. After trying it myself, I can confidently say it makes me look airbrushed.

One Tuesday night, I decided to put the Markle-approved No Makeup Makeup Foundation to the test. After much anticipation, I was genuinely impressed with the results. The Duchess of Sussex mentioned on her official ShopMy account that this compact is one of her recommended beauty products, and anyone who tries it will see why. It not only simplified my makeup routine but also left my skin looking as if I was wearing a beauty filter in reality.

As a longtime fan of Sarah Jessica Parker and someone who deals with rosacea, I was excited to find that the Sex and the City star’s favorite moisturizer can help manage the condition. If I wasn’t already taking dating and fashion advice from Carrie Bradshaw, now I’m also following SJP’s skincare tips!

True to its name, the brand doesn’t shy away from its goal—to create makeup products that enhance the natural look of your skin. This foundation did just that for me. The buildable formula has a lightweight, balmy texture that conceals blemishes and imperfections effectively. Unlike other skin tints and foundations I’ve tried, this one completely covered my rosacea without needing concealer.

With 13 shades available, from porcelain to deep, the foundation employs shade-adaptive FlexShade Technology. This means you don’t have to stress about finding the perfect color, as the product adjusts to your skin’s unique shades and undertones for a seamless finish. I typically use self-tanner and opted for shade 04 light medium but realized I should have chosen shade 03 light instead. Fortunately, thanks to FlexShade, the foundation still blended beautifully with my skin.

Another feature that stood out to me about No Makeup Makeup’s foundation (and what made it a staple in my makeup bag) is how it sped up my routine. Normally, I use primer, tint, bronzing drops, and concealer to achieve my desired look. When testing this product, I skipped all those extras (except for some under-eye concealer) and still achieved flawless results. It made me question why I was complicating my routine in the first place. It turns out there really is a foundation that can do it all.

I applied the foundation using the brand’s Perfect Foundation Brush and highly recommend it. The brush is the perfect size, shape, and density for applying the foundation. I’ve tried similar brushes for liquid application, but combined with this product’s unique texture, it ended up being easier to apply than I expected. Just a few swipes and I moved on to concealer.

If you prefer lightweight foundations without a cakey finish, Markle and I agree: this foundation is a must-try! Its soft-focus finish alone makes it appealing, along with a clean and safe formula that’s free of hormone disruptors—a rarity in today’s beauty market! Priced at $55, it does lean towards luxury, but the investment is absolutely worth it. A little truly goes a long way with this remarkable complexion enhancer.
