Millie Bobby Brown Dons the Naked Dress for a Date with Jake Bongiovi

Millie Bobby Brown is truly dedicated to her method dressing, even on date nights.

At 21, Brown is currently on a promotional tour for her upcoming film The Electric State. She attended a fan screening at The Paris Theatre in New York on Tuesday, March 11, and later changed into a sheer black lace vintage dress from the ’90s, which her stylist Ryan Young found in a consignment shop in London. This outfit was for an evening out with her husband Jake Bongiovi, son of musician Jon Bon Jovi.

Brown’s look is just the latest in her series of ’90s-inspired outfits. Recently, she has opted to wear only archival designs from the decade that her new film is set in.

The dress featured faux fur on the neckline and cuffs, and revealed her underwear, reminiscent of Kate Moss‘s iconic transparent slip, which Moss wore along with black underwear at a party in 1993. However, instead of pairing her look with rubber flip-flops like Moss did at the time, Brown opted for elegant black satin pumps with crystal-embellished stiletto heels by Louis Vuitton.

Fashion enthusiasts might remember that the supermodel wore a strikingly similar black lace gown on her 50th birthday, implying that Brown is embracing the timeless appeal of the naked dress.

This isn’t the first occasion where Brown has shown a bit of skin. Last month in Madrid, she made a stunning appearance on a red carpet in a sheer blue Giorgio Armani gown—the very same one Gwyneth Paltrow wore at the 1998 premiere of her film Shakespeare in Love, six years before Brown was born.

On a March 11 episode of “The Movie Podcast,” Brown shared that Paltrow, 52, sent her an assortment of ’90s-era clothing to wear during this ongoing press tour. In addition, Pamela Anderson also gifted Brown a significant collection of vintage pieces, many of which she has been showcasing recently.

“I’ve always been a big admirer of ’90s style aesthetics, including hair and makeup,” stated the Stranger Things star on the podcast. “I didn’t have much knowledge of it before The Electric State, so this experience really broadened my perspective.” Brown added: “I could really indulge in these ’90s icons and pick out some looks from their closets, which allowed us to craft this amazing journey for the press tour.”

Expect to see more nostalgic Y2K fashions from Brown, both on and off the red carpet.
