Model Paulina Porizkova Clarifies Controversial Eviction Comment

Model Paulina Porizkova is clarifying her recent statements regarding her apartment situation, stating that she is not being “evicted” just days prior to her wedding.
“To be precise, we aren’t being evicted evicted,” Porizkova mentioned in an Instagram video posted on Thursday, May 28. “My lease has expired, and my landlord only wants to renew it for a full year, which we prefer not to do.”
She continued, “So it’s really on us. I feel bad for those of you who have shown such sympathy for us, when in reality, it’s just privileged people issues.”

Model Paulina Porizkova previously stated that she’s being “evicted” from her New York City apartment just days ahead of her wedding to fiancé Jeff Greenstein in Italy.
In a recent episode of her “Twenty Good Summers” podcast, Porizkova, 61, shared that her landlord chose not to extend her lease on the Manhattan unit she’s occupied since 2021.
“Regardless of how great a tenant I’ve been for the last six years, he didn’t want to grant us an extension on the lease, despite my appeals,” she revealed on the podcast she cohosts with Greenstein, 62. “Now we have to move out just four days before our wedding in Italy. Not ideal.”
Porizkova remarked that both she and Greenstein are “over 60” and “beginning anew.”
“We’re starting fresh entirely, both of us,” she added. “Because we’re about to leave this apartment that I adore, which has provided me safety, and where I feel I’ve grown into a woman.”
Despite the challenges, Porizkova emphasized that she has housing options, saying, “We are quite fortunate. I do have a country house that I co-own with my sons [Jonathan and Oliver]. We can relocate there, although it’s further from New York City.”
She further noted, “Or we still have [Jeff’s] house in L.A., which we are in the process of selling, but for now, we can stay there. We can’t complain, but it’s an unexpected situation.”
The main challenge has been managing a move while planning a wedding simultaneously.
“This isn’t how we envisioned things,” she concluded. “Being displaced from this apartment four days before the wedding and returning to an empty space in New York is not part of the plan.”
Following the podcast episode, the couple also addressed the matter in an Instagram post, stating, “Friends, we’re being displaced from our apartment four days before our wedding — thanks, Unsympathetic Landlord! — which, along with emails from our dedicated fanbase, inspired us to do an episode about moving: when to move in together, how to blend lives and tastes, and the emotions such changes can bring. Pack a box and join us!”
Porizkova and Greenstein got engaged in July 2025 after two years of dating. The supermodel was previously married to late Cars frontman Ric Ocasek from 1989 to 2018. They share sons Jonathan, 31, and Oliver, 27.
