Natalie Portman Seeks Immortality in “Fountain of Youth” Trailer
Natalie Portman and John Krasinski are all set to explore the lengths they can go to achieve immortality.
On Wednesday, April 2, Apple unveiled the first look trailer. “There’s a power beyond our understanding. One narrative, five continents, countless cultures, spanning thousands of years,” Krasinski’s character dramatically conveys to Portman, accompanied by stunning visuals of their adventures.
“And who exactly is going to enlighten me about why I’m here?” Portman sassy retorts, to which Domhnall Gleeson‘s character responds, “We’re searching for the fountain of youth.”
The teaser hints at several high-stakes action sequences. “It’s here. I can sense it,” Krasinski’s character asserts. Their quest for this elusive treasure, however, will not be without its obstacles.
“There’s a reason the fountain was concealed,” Stanley Tucci‘s character cautions. “He cannot prevail.”
The sneak peek concludes with a humorous exchange, as Portman asks her on-screen brother, “So, do you really believe you’ll discover a magical pool of water at the end of this journey?” He replies, “I’m not sure, but I think you want to find out.”
Portman, 43, and Krasinski, 45, portray Luke and Charlotte Purdue, separated siblings uniting for a global heist to locate the mythical Fountain of Youth. They must leverage their historical insights to unravel clues on a grand adventure that could alter their lives permanently — and possibly grant them immortality. The cast also includes Eiza González, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, and Carmen Ejogo.

Fountain of Youth, an Apple Original film, is helmed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, The Gentlemen) from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, Scream V). Produced by Skydance Media alongside Vinson Films and Project X Entertainment, Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, Jake Myers, and Radio Silence are the executive producers.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ritchie stated that the film is designed to offer a contemporary take on the classic Indiana Jones adventure.
“I found that I could easily slip into a comedy-action-gangster style, which I enjoy and am comfortable with, but I also realized the need to expand my horizons as a writer-director,” Ritchie commented, explaining that shooting in diverse locations from Egypt to Bangkok and Vienna became as much an adventure for the crews as for the characters themselves.
“Ironically, by the nature of it, you end up becoming a part of the movie yourself, if you catch my drift,” Ritchie elaborated. “Embarking on an action-adventure journey is as exciting as you might imagine it to be.”
Regarding Luke and Charlotte, Ritchie divulged that both hail from a background rich in archaeological pursuits related to uncovering artifacts. Despite their estrangement, they find a reason to reunite and seek this unique treasure.
Krasinski explained that Luke embodies the essence of living life to its fullest: “His wild (and somewhat impulsive) nature always leads to a great time… even if it’s at his sister’s expense. That zest for life made Luke a joy to portray.”
On the other hand, Charlotte has opted for a more secure lifestyle as an adult, but her brother pulls her back into adventure, as Portman shared, “It was exciting to play a woman rediscovering her adventurous spirit.”
Fountain of Youth will make its debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 23.
