Ned’s Declassified Star Frustrated by Tiny Residual Check
Former child actress Jennifer Hyatt Tedmori is earning literal pennies for her role on Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.
“It’s that time of year for me: I received my Ned’s residual checks,” Hyatt Tedmori, 37, mentioned in a social media video on Thursday, July 23, while showing a stack of envelopes. “Some could be a penny, while others might be $5.”
Hyatt Tedmori played Doris Trembly in 11 episodes of Ned’s Declassified, where Devon Werkheiser starred as the main character navigating the trials of middle school.
As she opened the first envelope, Hyatt Tedmori joked about a “crashout incoming” when the check revealed just two cents.
“A grand total of two cents. Look at all this paper I’m just tossing around in my car for two f***ing cents,” she joked sarcastically. “I know, times are tough, and the economy is a mess, but like two cents? Just keep it; I don’t want it.”
Hyatt Tedmori also received checks for $1.11, 63 cents, 68 cents, 81 cents, and three cents, among others. While she opened these minuscule statements, she complained about the cost of sending a check in the first place.
“Don’t come for me about tossing away a nickel. Y’all let a nickel get lost in your couch,” she said. “Now I understand, it’s been a while. I’m surprised that I’m even getting anything, but three cents? It cost you 75 cents to send this envelope. The way this adds up, the math doesn’t add up.”
Moreover, Hyatt Tedmori revealed residuals from her time as “Goth Girl” in two episodes of the CW’s 90210 reboot.
“[I got] $21.43. I’m shocked,” she shared on Thursday, totaling her checks. “For Ned’s Declassified, that adds up to $8.63. With 90210, that’s $30.06. Can I even afford a coffee at Starbucks with this? Do I really have to report it to the IRS? They wouldn’t even care.”

Hyatt Tedmori expressed her hopes that her followers enjoyed the insights into the residual process that actors receive for the syndication of previous projects.

Hyatt Tedmori has been open about her positive memories as a child actor on Ned’s Declassified.
“I cherished working with you,” she told Lindsay Shaw on a 2023 episode of Shaw’s rewatch podcast alongside Devon Werkheiser, 35, and Daniel Curtis Lee. “My scenes with you were my absolute favorite; Lindsay was my favorite between takes.”
