Pat McAfee Defends Taylor and Travis’ Wedding Against Criticism

Pat McAfee has a message for those critiquing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s glamorous Madison Square Garden wedding.

“That was the most amazing evening I’ve ever experienced. I can’t wait to chat about it for days,” the 39-year-old sportscaster remarked on the Monday, July 13 episode of his self-titled talk show. “I’m certain there were things I agreed not to discuss, but based on what I’ve seen others say—even though there were no phones allowed—it’s all just from memory.”

McAfee humorously noted that he doesn’t possess much aside from his “cool tank top collection,” a Pittsburgh accent, and a “pretty decent” memory.

“How could anyone forget what happened that night?” he joked.

The broadcaster also came to the defense of Swift and Kelce, both 36, amidst the “negative” feedback they’ve encountered online regarding their eagerly awaited wedding.

“For anyone criticizing that event … sure, shutting down a bustling city may raise some eyebrows, but the event itself was the most extravagant thing I’ve ever witnessed,” he said. “It was truly spectacular.”

McAfee praised Swift as “one of the greatest creators the world has ever known.”

“She hosts stadium performances globally, entertaining audiences ranging from 90 to 15,” he reminisced. “Imagine her mindset heading into her dream wedding mixed with Travis Kelce’s vibrant energy.”

McAfee expressed excitement over witnessing “the football community unite” with Hollywood stars and international icons. He revealed that Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, and Brad Pitt were in attendance—he even got a “Jack and diet” from the F1 star. He also noted that all of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates were present, mentioning that he spotted Patrick Mahomes dancing at one point.

“I don’t want to reveal too much, but it was the greatest night ever,” he exclaimed. “My wife and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. Their love was on full display.”

McAfee stood firm by Swift and Kelce in response to online critics who labeled their wedding, attended by 1,000 close friends and family, as “tacky.”

“Just know that any negativity surrounding the event … my wife and I were baffled by why we were invited, but we were thrilled and made sure they knew,” he shared. “We had an amazing time; everything was top-notch. And Travis Kelce is deeply in love and looks incredibly happy.”

Swift and Kelce exchanged vows at the iconic New York City venue on July 3. The couple has kept many details about their wedding private, only disclosing that their siblings served as their wedding party and that the ceremony was officiated by comedian and actor Adam Sandler.
