Rachael Ray Chuckles as Husband John Fumbles with the Food Processor

Even renowned chefs such as Rachael Ray can face relatable blunders while cooking.

On January 2, Ray, 56, shared a cooking video with her followers on TikTok, where she combined various ingredients in a food processor.

“When you add cheese into this mix, it tends to turn white and cloudy, making it tricky to work with,” Ray mentioned as she adjusted the device lid. “And you know what’s also difficult? Figuring out how to use a new food processor.”

Ray then called upon her husband, John Cusimano, for assistance.

“John flying in from the director’s chair!” she joked. “Whether you’re mic’d or not, can you just get this food processor working, please? ‘Make it go’— that’s my not-so-articulate way of asking you to fix it. Let’s see how long it takes him to solve this,” she added with a laugh.

The video sped up as Cusimano, 57, struggled with the food processor and its cord. Ray tried to offer suggestions, but nothing seemed to work.

“This is becoming a party joke: How many people does it take to get the Cuisinart working?” she quipped. “Did we even check if it was plugged in?”

While Cusimano was sure that the processor was plugged in, Ray insisted on verifying it two more times, just “to be certain.”

“There’s no reason for this not to work,” she chuckled after Cusimano reconnected the processor to the outlet. “Can you believe I host a cooking show?”

Once Cusimano finally got the processor functioning, Ray was quick to correct the settings he had used.

“No, pulse, pulse, pulse, pulse,” Ray said. “Now, John, take off the lid and add a cup of this.”

Cusimano, however, jokingly expressed concern about removing the lid after it had “taken all episode” to secure it properly on the processor.

Ray and Cusimano, who has been integral in managing her expansive lifestyle brand, have been married since 2005.

“One of the most important aspects of my life and success has been the partner I selected,” Ray shared on a November 2024 episode of her podcast, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.” “I adore my husband, John, and together we’ve built our brand and business.”

Ray added, “John and I didn’t marry until we were quite older [at] 37 and 38, but it was vital for me to marry him because I believed he could be a true partner in my mission to help others.”

Cusimano typically remains out of the spotlight during filming, but occasionally joins Ray in the kitchen. She mentioned to Us Weekly last month how her husband “contributes a lot” to their holiday meals.

“I always assign him the task of making eggnog from scratch,” Ray exclusively told Us in December 2024. “He has a fantastic recipe where he froths skim milk and then mixes in cardamom, cinnamon, rum, and an egg. It’s lighter than store-bought eggnog but just as delicious.”
