Richard Gere’s Wife Honors His First Father’s Day in Spain

Months after relocating from the United States to Spain, Richard Gere’s wife, Alejandra Silva, is offering a peek into their family life.

On Wednesday, March 19, Silva posted images of Gere with their two sons to commemorate his first Spanish Father’s Day.

“Happy 1st Spanish Father’s Day to the best dad in the world,” Silva, 42, captioned the photos on Instagram.

Gere, 75, and Silva have been married since 2018, having met during a visit to Italy in 2014.

Silva, originally from Spain, moved to the U.S. to be with Gere while he pursued his acting career.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, Gere mentioned it was time to reciprocate after deciding to relocate back to Spain.

“My wife is Spanish, and she gave me around seven years here, so we’re going to spend some years in Madrid with her family,” he shared in November 2024. “Our kids are bilingual, so they’ll thrive there.”

Earlier this year, Gere and Silva discussed their new life in Spain while speaking with Elle España, which portrayed Gere as a devoted family man.

“Richard is an incredibly devoted and involved father. He loves reading stories to them. It may look like a perfect scene, but it’s entirely true. He’s a fantastic dad,” Silva revealed.

“He doesn’t cook,” she added. “I handle that, but while I cook, he plays the guitar.”

Together, Gere and Silva have two sons: 6-year-old Alexander and 4-year-old James.

Gere also has a son from a previous relationship, 25-year-old Homer, as well as Silva’s 11-year-old son, Albert.

“The reality is that you’re witnessing us in our moment,” Gere expressed to Elle España about their life in Spain. “We are happier than ever. She, because she is at home, and if she is happy, I am happy.”

“We share the same values,” Silva noted while describing Gere as her “soul mate.”

“We view the world similarly, and from the very first moment, it felt like we had known each other forever. This connection is rare and special … We were united by the karma of our previous lives,” she elaborated.

Silva and Gere keep their family life largely private. The Father’s Day tribute follows Silva’s sharing of their family vacation to the Maldives back in February.
