Selena Gomez Embraces Change and Celebrates the Joy of Growing Older
Selena Gomez embraces the idea of aging gracefully.
“I don’t see it as a negative thing,” Gomez, 34, shared with People on Wednesday, September 16. “Aging has been a joyful experience for me. I’m not at all afraid. I truly enjoy getting older.”
She added, “Yes, things will change and may not look the same, but the key is you’re alive. I really believe that age is just a number to a large extent.”
Reflecting on her aspirations for the remainder of her 30s, the founder of Rare Beauty expressed her desire to “find happiness.”
“I’m engaged in activities that I genuinely love, and if I ever stop enjoying what I do, I hope I’ll have the wisdom to move on,” explained the star of Only Murders in the Building. “I don’t put value on my work because it can be very damaging. I prefer to appreciate everything that comes my way, and I simply wish for wonderful things to come.”
In another part of the interview, Gomez shared her top makeup tips, including how she achieves a no-mascara look.
“Applying mascara is enjoyable, but it can feel a bit heavy for a light day,” she explained. “With our tinted brow gel, I choose a dark brown shade and apply it to the tips of my lashes after curling them.” Gomez mentioned that this method provides “just the right amount” of lift to her lashes.
Her everyday makeup routine is surprisingly “quite simple.”
“I use two pumps of foundation and blend it all over,” she revealed. “Then, I apply my eyebrow gel, followed by Bouncy Blush, my mascara, and lip oil. Some people aren’t fans of the natural beauty look, but that truly reflects my identity now.”
Gomez also reminisced about her former signature smokey eye, which she wore in 2016. While fans adored the style, the singer doesn’t envision returning to it. “That was such a chaotic time in my life, and it felt necessary to have a smoky eye,” she said with a chuckle. “I was trying to look cool! Now, I think my current vibe is much more relaxed, which I love.”
