Shailene Woodley’s Stylist Issues ‘Warning’ Ahead of Emmys Look

Stylist Karla Welch is having some fun with the feedback regarding Shailene Woodley’s appearance at the 2026 Emmy Awards.

The 52-year-old stylist took to Instagram on Wednesday, September 16, to highlight Woodley, 34, in Balenciaga during television’s biggest event.

Welch kicked off the photo carousel with a black screen adorned with white text stating, “Trigger warning.” When fans swiped to the following image, they were greeted with Woodley posing in her outfit on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

For the event on Monday, September 14, she sported a blue top featuring a plunging scoop neckline. Woodley tucked the loosely-fitted tank into gold wide-leg pants embellished with beading. She completed her look with maroon gloves and a rainbow stone necklace.

For her glam, Woodley opted for soft makeup that included dewy skin, bronzed cheeks, well-groomed brows, a hint of mascara, and pink, lined lips. She styled her brunette locks with a middle part and slicked back into a low ponytail that partially covered her ears.

“We ♥️ @pppiccioli 🌹,” Welch captioned the post, tagging Balenciaga’s creative director, Pier Paolo Piccioli. “And the hands that create haute couture magic! Merci to all @balenciaga.”

Welch’s lighthearted post followed a day after she responded to some negativity. “Love or hate something, that’s fine, but it’s merely an opinion,” she shared via Instagram Threads on Tuesday, September 15. “It can spark a conversation, but being excessively rude and finding joy in it says much more about the individuals making those comments. 🖤.”

While a number of fans appreciated Woodley’s look, others, including Melissa Rivers and Gabby Windey, were less impressed.

On Tuesday, Rivers, 58, exclusively told Us that Woodley was on her worst dressed list. “I see Shailene’s look walking down the runway,” Rivers commented. “It’s not for civilians.”

Windey, 35, also shared her views on Woodley’s outfit during an episode of her “Long Winded” podcast, stating, “Her stylist did her … what is dirtier than dirty? Filthy. Filthy! As for Balenciaga, I don’t understand what was happening or why it was even considered [or] presented to her. Normally, she looks fantastic. … This calls for sabotage and even jail time! I would fire every single person involved. That is grounds for termination. Public humiliation.”

She further added, “And her hair stylist? It wasn’t even a slick back low ponytail; it was just a ponytail that looked neglected and merely covered her.”
