Sheinelle Jones Discovers Her Wedding Dress Following Uche’s Passing
Today’s Sheinelle Jones was astonished by a surprising discovery during her recent cleaning session.
“I came across an old suitcase, and when I unzipped it, I found my wedding dress,” Jones, 48, revealed on the Thursday, May 14, episode of TODAY With Jenna and Sheinelle. “I recall everyone telling me to preserve it, but I didn’t. Uche and I took pictures all over Philadelphia, so the bottom of it is [dirty].”
After cohost Jenna Bush Hager complimented the dress’s beauty, Jones confessed that her perspective on the outfit has changed since the passing of her husband, Uche Ojeh, who died in May 2025 at 45 due to glioblastoma.
“Now, I see it differently. I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness! I never preserved it. Can it even be preserved now? Is it too late?’” she pondered. “People often said, ‘One day, your daughter might want to wear your dress.’”
During the heartfelt discussion, Bush Hager, 44, recalled her own quest for her wedding dress, motivated by a specific idea.
“I wanted to host a party called ‘Seven Year Itch,’ where everyone wears their wedding dress. Mine won’t fit, so I guess I’ll have to look for a vintage one or go to David’s Bridal. On my seven-year anniversary, I asked my mom where my wedding dress was. She said, ‘I have it.’ I wanted to try it on for the party, but it didn’t fit,” she shared.
Jones was shocked by her cohost’s inability to fit into her wedding dress. However, Bush Hager quickly reminded her friend that things have changed post-baby.

“When you’re 26, there are certain things,” she joked. “This doesn’t even fit over my left thigh.”
Putting humor aside, Jones has been candid about navigating the ups and downs of life as she copes with her husband’s passing.
On Monday, May 11, the author of Through Mom’s Eyes spoke about the difficulties of celebrating Mother’s Day without her husband for the first time.
“Honestly, it was quite challenging for me,” she admitted on Today. “Experiencing firsts — like Mother’s Day being my first without Uche — requires you to strengthen your heart. Holidays like Christmas and Easter can be fortified for, but some holidays hit harder than expected. Mother’s Day was tough.”
In the end, the mother of three kept herself occupied, as her children had various activities that day.
“My little guy had a game at 9 a.m., Kayin had one at 7 p.m., and Clara had dance class, so I couldn’t just stay in bed,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Alright, it’s going to be okay.’”
