Stefanie Dolson’s Take on the Players with the Best Tunnel Styles
Seattle Storm center Stefanie Dolson has spent over ten years in the WNBA, gaining insights into what makes the ideal gameday outfit—though she doesn’t always follow her own guidelines.
At the WNBA All-Star event, Dolson, 34, shared her thoughts on the players with the best tunnel aesthetics exclusively with Us, as part of her collaboration with JCPenney.
“There are so many with great styles. I really admire Skylar [Diggins],” she noted about the Chicago Sky point guard, 36. “She’s unique yet playful. Paige [Bueckers] has a really cool, laid-back vibe. I love her recent outfits. And my teammate Flau’jae [Johnson] has an awesome style, too.”
Bueckers, 24, has turned the tunnel into a runway since joining the league last year. As a player with the Dallas Wings, she often showcases her personal interests, like her Lego-themed outfit from July, and pays homage to her Minnesota and UConn heritage.
As for Johnson, 22, the rookie has rapidly positioned herself as one of the WNBA’s most fashionable players, consistently arriving at games in meticulously styled — and often vibrant — looks.
Dolson herself garnered attention for donning a shirt that read “Trans rights are human rights” prior to a recent game, appearing to address anti-trans remarks by the Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham.
Regardless of whether Dolson is aiming to send a message, sports and style have been intertwined for her since childhood, recalling her youthful shopping experiences with her mother while she was a promising high school basketball player.
It’s an opportunity for personal expression. While she chose not to call out players whose tunnel fits may lack flair, she did share one major pet peeve.
“I would say anyone who only wears sweats consistently, but I wear sweats often too, so I can’t really criticize—honestly, you could categorize me there as well,” she admitted.
As a veteran, Dolson now guides the newer players in steering clear of the dreaded sweat outfit. During WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago, her partnership with JCPenney allowed her to shop with a young basketball player from the Boys and Girls Club, even surprising them with courtside tickets to the All-Star Game.
“We have a platform, which allows us to use it in ways that are significant to us, such as giving back to the Boys and Girls Club. They look up to us,” Dolson stated. “They want to perceive us positively and joyfully. I’m thrilled to connect JCPenney with basketball while giving back to the community and the Boys and Girls Club.”
She emphasized that the recent explosive growth of the WNBA has opened up avenues for meaningful brand collaborations that link players to their admirers.
“Partnering with someone like JCPenney links basketball with fashion, and it allows our fans to connect with us more deeply,” she expressed. “It’s immensely enjoyable for us to engage with partners who truly matter to us.”
