Sydney Sweeney Celebrates Euphoria Season 3 Finale with Bold Topless Photo
Sydney Sweeney appears to be bidding farewell to Euphoria season 3 in a dramatic fashion, reminiscent of her character Cassie Howard.
“It’s called… acting,” Sweeney, 28, shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 31, alongside a selection of behind-the-scenes and on-screen images from what is widely believed to be the final season of the acclaimed HBO series.
In one striking nearly-nude photograph, Sweeney poses with a snake belonging to Alamo’s (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) at The Silver Slipper. In the provocative image, she cleverly covers her nipples with vibrant green pasties. The actress, semi-nude with the (apparently real, yikes!) reptile, sported a matching leaf-green pasty design to maintain modesty below.
Additional photos showcased Sweeney with her co-stars, including Alexa Demie, who portrays Maddy Perez, and Jacob Elordi, who plays Sweeney’s on-screen husband, Nate Jacobs.
Sweeney has captured attention for her performance in season 3, especially regarding the precarious situations her character navigates after joining OnlyFans and swiftly transforming into a notable content creator-turned-sex worker.
In the penultimate episode on May 24, Cassie struggles to recover her newly-deleted OnlyFans account. To regain her lost followers, she decides to sleep with actor Dylan (Homer Gere). After their encounter, Cassie discreetly posts a selfie of them together on his social media account, effectively reestablishing her status as an online influencer, and quickly regaining the necessary subscribers to return to OnlyFans.
Sweeney has not only drawn attention for the number of explicit and near-nude scenes she has filmed for this season — her character’s entire arc has faced significant criticism online, especially from actual OnlyFans creators expressing their concerns about how their profession is depicted.
“[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humor,” explained the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, to The Hollywood Reporter in April, defending the character’s storyline. “But what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”
He added, “What we always aimed to find was an additional layer of absurdity to ensure we’re not too entrenched in her fantasy or illusion. The humor is in the breaking of that wall.”
Euphoria premieres on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
