White Lotus Star Expresses Interest in Joining Dancing With the Stars
The cast of season 3 of the acclaimed HBO series The White Lotus is filled with diverse talents, and one of its stars has expressed a strong interest in appearing on Dancing With the Stars.
“Dancing With the Stars? Oh, I would certainly consider that!” Tayme Thapthimthong, known for his role as the notorious hotel security guard Gaitok in the latest season of The White Lotus, told Us Weekly exclusively on Thursday, April 24, during an event hosted by Jim Thompson celebrating the brand and the show.
Thapthimthong, 35, shared that he picked up dancing skills by watching music videos and studying dance at university.
“I mean, I attended [university] for dance, but I never learned hip hop,” he explained. “My focus was more on contemporary and ballet.”
In fact, the actor possesses several dance moves that would definitely come in handy on the Dancing With the Stars stage.
Those dance moves also received recognition from his White Lotus co-star Natasha Rothwell, who witnessed his talent during his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he confidently strutted down the iconic tunnel.
Rothwell, who was also present at the Thursday event alongside The White Lotus creator Mike White and other cast members from season 3, was overheard complimenting Thapthimthong, saying he “killed it” during his appearance on the daytime talk show.
For those of us who missed his segment alongside singer Jennifer Hudson, we were later treated to his captivating dance moves during this year’s Coachella music festival, where he saw fellow White Lotus star Lisa perform live.
Mike White has yet to reveal the location and theme for The White Lotus season 4 to fans or cast members like Natasha Rothwell—but that hasn’t deterred her from brainstorming ideas. “Africa the continent, especially Morocco,” Rothwell, 44, suggested exclusively to Us Weekly on Thursday, April 24, during the Jim Thompson event in honor of the series.
“I thoroughly enjoyed watching that performance because I had never seen her live,” Thapthimthong shared with Us. “I’ve only seen her through YouTube videos… But experiencing it from the start, in that little VIP box, to see her come up from the stage and do her thing was breathtaking. I’ve never viewed her that way; she’s just Lisa to me. As a friend.”
If a future appearance on Dancing With the Stars doesn’t pan out for Thapthimthong, he is eager to delve deeper into his intriguing character after the shocking conclusion of season 3.
“I would love for him to return,” the actor shared with Us. “It would be fascinating to explore him further. He’s been through a lot and is now working full-time as a bodyguard for Sritala.”
