Dean Cain Reflects on His Brief but Intense Romance with Pamela Anderson

Dean Cain is reminiscing about his short-lived romance with Pamela Anderson.

“That relationship was intense but brief,” Cain, 58, shared with Variety in an interview released on Tuesday, July 29. “She was looking for a rock-star type, and that’s not who I am.”

Cain and Anderson, 58, started dating in 1993 after Anderson gained fame for her role as C.J. Parker on NBC’s Baywatch. Meanwhile, Cain was rising to prominence as Clark Kent/Superman on Lois & Clark. Although their relationship lasted only six months, Cain remarked that he retains “fond memories” of their time together.

Following their breakup, Cain dated Mindy McCready in 1997, though they ended their relationship after a brief engagement. He then dated Playboy Playmate Samantha Torres, but they split before the birth of their son, Christopher, in 2000.

“She thought we were going to marry because that’s what you’re supposed to do when you’re expecting out of wedlock. I was like, ‘That’s not going to happen,’” Cain, who has never married, told Variety. “My parents were not happy about it.”

Cain mentioned that Torres initially made it difficult for him to see his son, prompting him to spend $1.5 million on a legal battle for joint custody, which he ultimately won. He later received full legal and physical custody when Christopher turned 9, and his conflicts with Torres had settled. (Cain is now the godfather to her 14-year-old twins.)

For her part, Anderson has had five marriages. She wed Tommy Lee in 1995, with whom she welcomed sons Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger in 1996 and 1997, respectively. After their divorce in 1998, Anderson married Kid Rock in 2006, but they separated a year later. She later had two marriages to Rick Salomon — first from 2007 to 2008, and again from 2014 to 2015.

Anderson also rekindled her romance with former partner Jon Peters, though their wedding in 2020 was not legally binding, and they parted ways less than two weeks later. In the same year, she announced her marriage to bodyguard Dan Hayhurst, but Us Weekly confirmed their divorce in January 2022.

Earlier this month, Anderson stirred romance rumors with her Naked Gun co-star Liam Neeson when they were seen holding hands at the film’s London premiere. At one point, Anderson was spotted giving Neeson a kiss on the cheek. After attending the New York City premiere with their respective sons a few days later, Anderson shared photos on Instagram, captioning, “Love is in the air.”
