Explaining Alex Cooper’s Absence in Season 2 of Unwell Games
Alex Cooper has brought back her YouTube series Unwell Games for its second season—although you might have noticed her absence on screen.
In the premiere episode, released on Monday, September 7, host Adam Waheed reached out to inquire about Cooper’s whereabouts, acknowledging her absence.
“In case you haven’t heard, I am super pregnant,” Cooper, 32, said during their phone call. “Anyway, you are on your own for this one.”
She added, “But believe me, the group of people I’ve assembled this season will astound you. It’s going to be epic. Now get to it!”
Cooper did not make another appearance throughout the premiere. Before revealing in May that she is expecting a baby with her husband Matt Kaplan, she was featured multiple times in season 1 of Unwell Winter Games, which aired in April.
Season 2 is set in a warmer location and introduces a fresh lineup of competitors.
“Filmed over four days at a luxurious ranch in Canada, the series gathers exes, rivals, friends, and familiar faces under one roof for high-stakes competition and the intense, unfiltered drama that Unwell fans have come to love,” the show’s description explains.

The cast competing for a $250,000 cash prize includes Love Overboard’s Beau Bailey and Tim Demirjian, creators Chad Batchelder and Brandon Edelman, Unwell Winter Games alum Hallie Batchelder, Calabasas Confidential’s Suede Brooks, and Perfect Match alum Kassy Castillo.
Also joining the Unwell Summer Games cast are Love Island alums Pepe Garcia and Daniela Ortiz, social media influencer Blake Gray, Too Hot to Handle’s Carly Lawrence, creator Zarah Kelleher, “For the Girls” host Becca Moore, Love Island UK alums Dejon Noel-Williams and Jourdan Riane, and Perfect Match’s Jimmy Sotos.
Season 1 also showcased a star-studded lineup, featuring The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Demi Engemann, Love Island USA star Huda Mustafa, former Dancing With the Stars contestant Anna Delvey, Siesta Key’s Juliette Porter, and past contestants from Love Island like Ekin Su Cülcüloğlu and Eyal Booker.
The lineup included influencers Batchelder, Hannah Stocking, and Alissa Violet, Bachelor Nation’s Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, reality TV star Louis Russell, WWE’s Saraya Bevis, and others.
The series is executive produced by Cooper, Kaplan, Mina Lefevre, and Eric Detwiler. Unwell Summer Games will also feature commentary from Unwell Winter Games’ Cameron Gerrard and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
“Our audience navigates seamlessly across platforms, and our mission is to keep engaging them with concepts that distinctly represent Unwell,” Kaplan stated. “The positive response to Winter Games confirmed the potential we observe on YouTube, and we’re committed to investing in original formats that unite great talent, dynamic personalities, and the entertaining content our audience seeks.”
The next episode of Unwell Summer Games will premiere on YouTube.com/@Unwell on Wednesday, September 9.
