Mariah Carey’s Unique Insight on Co-Parenting Twins with Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey provided a rare glimpse into her coparenting dynamics with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

“How do I put this? They enjoy spending time with him, and they have fun,” Carey, 56, mentioned in a Harper’s Bazaar interview published on Tuesday, July 29. “They spend time with me, and they have a great time.”

Carey and Cannon, 44, tied the knot in April 2008 but announced their separation in 2014, finalizing their divorce two years later. They share fraternal twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe, who are both 14.

“I aim to be fair about the situation because it’s challenging to grow up with divorced parents,” Carey added, refraining from discussing the specifics of her relationship with Cannon.

Strong coparenting! Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have been raising their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, amicably since their split in 2014. The “We Belong Together” singer announced her pregnancy in October 2010, confirming she was expecting twins in April 2011. “Yes, we are pregnant. It’s true,” the New York native stated.

In addition to his twins, Cannon is a father to 10 other children. He shares Golden, 8, Powerful Queen, 4, and Rise, 3, with Brittany Bell, and twins Zion and Zillion, 3, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, 2, with Abby De La Rosa. He also has son Legendary, 2, and daughter Onyx, 2, with Bre Tiesi and LaNisha Cole, respectively, as well as daughter Halo, 2, with Alyssa Scott. (Cannon also had a son, Zen, with Scott, who sadly passed away from brain cancer at 5 months old.)

As his family grows, Cannon has been open about coparenting with the six mothers of his children.

In a recent Vulture interview, he candidly expressed that his children are “the result of his desire to please the women he was dating or his single friends wanting kids.” He also acknowledged that having five children in 2022 alone might have been overwhelming.

“It was also a little bit of, like, ‘Okay, God, how did I end up with five kids in one year?’ Probably some impulsive decisions,” he admitted.

Nick Cannon revealed that his and Mariah Carey’s 11-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, appreciate having a larger family, including their younger siblings. “At this stage, they enjoy it. They have fun being the oldest. But we’ll see how that changes when they hit 16,” Cannon, 42, noted.

Cannon shared words of gratitude for the mothers of his children during a September 2024 conversation with Us Weekly.

“I thank God for their mothers,” he reflected. “They plan meticulously, and they don’t have to, but they show incredible empathy towards my journey. I’ve witnessed many sacrifices from them so I can be present — I haven’t missed a birth or a birthday yet.”

Cannon expressed to Us that his personal and professional lives intertwine for him.

“I wake up every day grateful, and I embrace whatever’s on the agenda. I’m like, ‘Let’s get it.’ It doesn’t feel chaotic until someone else mentions it,” he elaborated.
