Emily Maynard Discusses Ricki Hendrick’s Pregnancy at Age 20
Emily Maynard has spoken out about her daughter Ricki Hendrick, 20, who recently announced her pregnancy.
The former Bachelorette, now 39, made an appearance on Hendrick’s Instagram Story on Thursday, September 11, and humorously referred to the situation as “unforgivable.”
Hendrick shared a query from a follower, who asked her how her family felt about her decision to welcome a “baby outside marriage.”
Maynard then jumped into the clip to read the question and replied with sarcasm.
“Very against it,” she responded. “I can’t believe anyone would ever do that. Unforgivable.”
Following that post, Hendrick posted another video on her Instagram Story, maintaining a sarcastic tone about her mother’s reaction to her pregnancy news.
“My mom is honestly so devastated; she’s so upset,” she humorously said while showing off some new items Maynard had bought, like a baby crib and a book for grandmothers.
Hendrick continued, “She’s not at all excited about me having a baby. In fact, she’s really angry. She can’t even bear to look at me. She doesn’t support this at all. She’s furious.”
In a more heartfelt caption, Hendrick wrote alongside the footage, “These are all items she got on her own and she’s still not finished. This is all stuff at her house too, not even mine.”
Hendrick announced her pregnancy through an Instagram Story on August 26.
Along with a sonogram image, Ricki quoted Love Island USA’s Huda Mustafa by saying, “Netflix told me I can’t talk about it.”
She also included a video of her baby moving, adding, “My heart is so full, but my stomach is empty because she doesn’t like any food. I’m convinced.”
Since then, Hendrick has kept fans updated on her pregnancy, including a sonogram of her baby girl posted on Wednesday, September 10, following a routine checkup.
“Anatomy scan with a baby that loves to hide her face,” Hendrick mentioned on her Instagram Story.
In another post, Hendrick expressed her desire to keep as many of the images as possible.
“Had to return two hours later to try and retrieve all of them,” she wrote. “The only thing I noticed was how my angelic, perfect gift from God has some very prominent ears.”
Maynard was engaged to Ricki’s father, Ricky Hendrick, when he tragically passed away in a plane crash in 2004 at the age of 24. After his death, Maynard learned she was pregnant with her first child. At just 19, she welcomed her daughter Josephine Riddick Hendrick — affectionately known as Ricki, in honor of her late fiancé.
