Fox Under Fire for Creating Fake Movie Trailer Featuring Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Wedding

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance reads like a cinematic tale, yet not everyone is eager to join in on the spectacle.

Before the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Philadelphia Eagles in their Super Bowl LIX rematch on Sunday, September 14, Fox NFL Sunday showcased a spoof movie trailer for My Big Fat Chiefs Wedding, inspired by My Big Fat Greek Wedding, featuring the newly engaged duo.

“She’s one of the most celebrated musical icons globally, and he stands at six-foot-five,” a voiceover narrated as clips of Swift and the 35-year-old Kelce played. “Yet somehow, they uncovered love.”

The trailer then transitioned to an actor portraying Kelce energetically entering the Chiefs’ locker room.

“Hey team, it’s me, Travis Kelce,” the impersonator exclaimed. “Guess what? Wedding bells are ringing!”

The voiceover added, “Falling for each other was the easy part. Now the challenge lies ahead: embracing his football family.”

Actors simulating Kelce’s teammates, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, then bombarded him with questions like, “How can you be sure she isn’t just after your cash?” and “What’s her hometown?”

“She’s from just outside Philly,” the fake Kelce retorted, prompting eye rolls from his comrades.

Next, an actress impersonating Swift was seen trying to catch footballs on a field alongside an actor playing Chiefs head coach Andy Reid before heading into the locker room.

“Everyone, meet Taylor,” the fake Kelce introduced, as the faux Swift distributed “Taylor’s Version” copies of the Chiefs playbook to the players.

The trailer also included a cameo from NSYNC star Joey Fatone, who video-called the fake Kelce. Fatone, 48, appeared in the original My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

“No way, I’m out,” Fatone remarked. “I root for the Giants.”

To which fake Kelce replied, “Well, I’m Team Backstreet Boys. Later!”

The comedic trailer didn’t resonate with all viewers as they prepared for the NFL matchups that day.

“I changed the channel the moment it began,” one viewer expressed via X.

Another user commented, “I can only assume some questionable late-night snacks and drinks were involved in the planning of this.”

The well-known sports commentary platform Awful Announcing labeled the trailer “a tough watch.”

Kelce and Swift got engaged last month after over two years of dating.

Fox NFL Sunday also featured a heartwarming interview with Kelce and Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews, where Kelce raved about his fiancée.

“This journey has been exhilarating, and I’m thrilled to spend my life with her,” Kelce shared.
