Rihanna embraced motherhood in May 2022 when she welcomed her first son.
“I’m living for my son. Everything has a different significance now. You start considering things more carefully,” Rihanna stated during a February 2023 interview on the “Process with Nate Burleson” podcast. “Skydiving?! You really ponder stuff like that — it’s not worth it. Everything has changed.”
Their first son was named after RZA (pronounced “Rizza”), a renowned producer, rapper, and leader of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Rocky acknowledged the name’s significance in a now-deleted Instagram post celebrating RZA’s first birthday.
“[It’s] an incredible honor to see another generation, not even from my household, inspired by that name,” RZA, whose real name is Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, told CNN in July 2023. “RZA isn’t just a name; it’s a title. I salute Rihanna, ASAP, and their family with all the blessings.”
Riot Rose
In August 2023, Rihanna and Rocky expanded their family with their second son.
Rihanna revealed that Pharrell Williams chose the name Riot after collaborating on Rocky’s 2023 track, “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n).”
“He suggested this name, believing it would be a girl, as he saw something online,” the singer recounted in a February 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
Though Riot is a boy, he embodies his name perfectly.
“When he wakes up, he starts squealing and shouting,” Rihanna shared. “Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing. And I’m like, ‘Alright, here we go!’ He’s my morning alarm! No one can silence him.”
Rocki Irish
On September 13, 2025, Rihanna and Rocky celebrated the arrival of their third child, marking their first daughter.
“Rocki Irish Mayers 🎀,” Rihanna shared on Instagram less than two weeks after her birth.
While Rocky hasn’t officially confirmed the meaning of Rocki’s name, fans speculate it’s a tribute to her father’s stage persona.
In her Instagram announcement for Rocki’s arrival, Rihanna also posted a picture of tiny pink boxing gloves, seemingly referencing the iconic character Rocky Balboa from Rocky. Rocky later chimed in, “MY LIL LADIES ❤️.”
