St. Denis Medical Season 2 Trailer Hints at Unexpected Developments in the Hospital
St. Denis Medical is making its triumphant return for season 2, and this time, the surprises are even more thrilling.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek of the trailer, Joyce (Wendi McLendon-Covey) invites the camera crew back to St. Denis Regional Medical Center, stating, “So much has transpired since your last visit.”
These transformations lead to some of the most outrageous moments yet.
“I thought it would be a great idea to introduce a professional therapy horse, but there’s been an unexpected drawback,” Joyce shares just as the horse relieves itself. Alex (Allison Tolman) then alerts Matt (Mekki Leeper) about “another code brown” that he needs to handle.
In another segment of the trailer, Bruce (Josh Lawson) engages in playful combat with Matt.
“You are my prisoner,” he declares, to which Matt cleverly retorts, “Looks like I’ll have to lick my way to freedom.”
Ron (David Alan Grier) makes a comeback in a vibrant tropical shirt before sharing his signature wisdom with Alex: “Talking smack about each other is basically 90 percent of our work here,” he quips.
The preview wraps up with Joyce instructing her staff on self-defense techniques.

“I want to teach all of you self-defense. Place your keys between your knuckles and bam, keys to the groin,” she explains. “And if your attacker happens to be a woman, a key fob won’t be any holiday, either.”
St. Denis Medical, which debuted in 2024, chronicles the lives of overworked healthcare professionals striving to care for patients in an underfunded Oregon hospital. Season 2 is set to feature a plethora of guest appearances, including Ariana Madix, Kristen Schaal, Frankie Quiñones, Lauren Lapkus, Jeremiah Brown, and more.
“Being in a mockumentary is a blast. I cherish the moments when I get to connect with the camera,” Kahyun Kim shared exclusively with Us Weekly in November 2024. “Especially with Serena, it’s delightful because she’s refreshingly honest, and you can truly gauge her feelings through her expressions. I love nurturing that bond with the audience.”
Meanwhile, Leeper, 30, expressed to Us that his experience on the St. Denis Medical set was “a joy,” adding, “I grew up dreaming of being in a show like The Office or Parks and Recreation. There were years when shows like that weren’t being made. It took someone like Quinta Brunson [from Abbott Elementary] to reopen the doors for these kinds of shows to become popular again.”
The co-stars noted that the greatest challenge in producing St. Denis Medical was remembering to engage with the camera.
“It took me a moment to acclimate. Personally, once I got the hang of it, I seized every opportunity to look into the camera. I love it,” Kim, 30, expressed. “Exploring that space is thrilling for me because we’re often told, ‘Don’t look into the camera.’ So this adds an extra layer of excitement.”
Leeper found that working on a mockumentary provided “an additional layer” for the actors to delve into with their characters.
“You have this whole bonus space that’s normally unavailable, and you can truly inject whatever you want into it. It varies for each individual because Wendi looks at the camera differently from David,” he detailed. “Ron and Serena are always drained by the person in front of them. Joyce tries to make the hospital appear welcoming, while Matt often finds himself in awkward situations. Utilizing that dynamic as a tool is incredible. Delivering a joke directly to the camera is just so enjoyable and gratifying.”
St. Denis Medical returns to NBC on Monday, November 3, at 8 p.m. ET, featuring back-to-back episodes before streaming the following day on Peacock.
