Just when fans thought The Valley couldn’t possibly become more intense, the cast proved Us wrong.

Debuting in March 2024, The Valley reintroduced Bravo viewers to Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute, along with their new group of friends. This trio originally gained reality TV fame on Vanderpump Rules before leaving the show in 2020.

The spinoff was marketed as a series revolving around a circle of friends transitioning from their raucous youth to the responsibilities of parenthood and adult life in California’s San Fernando Valley. Beyond Jax, Brittany, and Kristen, The Valley also showcased Kristen’s boyfriend, Luke Broderick, as well as Danny Booko, Nia Booko, Jesse Lally, Michelle Lally, Jason Caperna, and Janet Caperna.

As fresh episodes of The Valley unfolded, fans of Vanderpump Rules recognized that the network had hit the jackpot. From Jesse and Michelle’s marriage falling apart to Brittany’s realization of her discontent with Jax, The Valley delivered unforgettable drama (not to mention the iconic hallway encounter between Jesse and Kristen).

Viewer’s of Vanderpump Rules will encounter new faces alongside some familiar ones in The Valley. In 2012, audiences were introduced to the staff at Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant, SUR, including Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute, Tom Sandoval, Katie Maloney, and Scheana Shay. The cast faced numerous challenges…and more.

Filming for Season 1 of The Valley wrapped before Michelle and Jesse publicly announced their divorce and just as Jax and Brittany confirmed their separation. By the summer of 2024 when filming resumed, Jax and Brittany were mere weeks away from her filing for divorce.

Lala Kent and Scheana Shay made brief cameos during the premiere of The Valley. With Vanderpump Rules currently on hiatus, it’s not surprising that they were spotted filming scenes for the second season of The Valley.

After Bravo confirmed a new cast for Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules, Us confirmed that Lala, Scheana, and Tom Schwartz would also be part of Season 2 of The Valley.

Gizelle Hernandez/Bravo Just because Vanderpump Rules isn’t currently in production doesn’t mean the cast hasn’t found ways to stay in the spotlight. Since its premiere in 2013, stars and fans of the hit Bravo series have become accustomed to summer filming schedules. The group first took a summer hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jax Enters Rehab

In July 2024, Jax entered a 30-day treatment program for his ongoing mental health challenges. He exited the facility a month later, with his representative stating, “Jax has spent the past 30 days in treatment and will return home later this week. It’s been an emotional journey for him, and he’s eager to spend time with his son.”

The couples who parted ways following the filming of Season 1, and before it aired on Bravo, included Jax and Brittany, along with Jesse and Michelle. Nia and Danny—who share three children—are still together, while Jasmine continues her serious relationship with Michelle. Meanwhile, Kristen and Luke have transitioned from an apartment to a house during Season 2 filming.

Will Michelle’s New Boyfriend Feature on the Show?

After her separation from Jesse, Michelle started dating financial advisor Aaron Nosler. (Jesse, in turn, has been seeing Lacy Nicole since his split from Michelle).

Michelle mentioned to Us in May that Aaron is open to appearing on a future season, noting, “He hasn’t ruled it out. However, considering his profession as a financial director, it’s quite the opposite of reality TV.”

Jax Hints at Potential Issues with Nia and Danny

While Season 1 was airing in May 2024, Jax surprised fans by suggesting that Danny and his wife Nia’s relationship might not be as perfect as portrayed. Responding to a social media comment that called the couple the “cutest on television,” Jax replied, “Let’s see how this goes.”

In response to Jax’s hints, Danny voiced his frustrations during the start of Season 2 filming on an episode of Nia’s “Hold My Crown” podcast in July 2024, stating, “One of whom you believed was your best friend is trying to stir things up and insinuate untrue allegations. It’s disheartening and friends don’t act this way.”

Danny expressed shock at Jax’s remarks, adding, “We need to address this. I would like for this to happen in Season 2, but I hope it takes place before filming starts. I’m not a fan of conflict; it’s uncomfortable, and it affects not just me but our marriage.”

Nia avoided naming names while discussing the tensions, saying, “I know you get along with some guys, but there are others who haven’t been genuine friends for you, which makes me uneasy,” indicating her apprehension about returning to film new episodes of The Valley with Jax, Luke, Jason, and Zack.

Kristen’s Position in the Group

The feud between Janet and Kristen unfolded during the first season of The Valley. After Kristen accused Janet of making disparaging remarks about Michelle, the two found themselves at odds. Janet notably excluded Kristen from her gatherings, leading to speculation among viewers that this rift might continue into Season 2, especially as Kristen was absent from several group pictures.

In an exclusive interview with Us in April, Janet shared her perspective on her relationship with Kristen, saying, “We were close for many years, but so much happened that I felt it was time to step back. I never say never—I care about Kristen and wish her well, but we both reached a moment where we needed a break.”

Michelle also disclosed to Us that she hadn’t been in contact with Kristen after Kristen accused her of racism, being a Republican, and infidelity. “So many things transpired; it’s challenging to envision a positive future,” she remarked in May. “We’ve got a long way to go to fix this.”

Jax and Brittany publicly announced their separation in February 2024—prior to the premiere of Season 1 on Bravo.

Regarding their breakup, Cartwright exclusively told Us in April, “I’ve forgiven him for things that were unforgivable over the years, but my love for him was unwavering, and I always stood by him. I’ve done a lot of defending, apologizing, and damage control, and after nine years, that really takes its toll. We have our ups and downs. He originally didn’t want me to leave, but now it seems he’s accepting it more.”

While filming Season 2 in the summer of 2024, Us confirmed that Brittany officially filed for divorce from Jax.
