Karoline Leavitt, 28, Anticipates Baby No. 2 with 60-Year-Old Husband

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, has proudly announced that she is expecting her second child with her 60-year-old husband Nicholas Riccio.

“The most wonderful Christmas blessing we could ever wish for — our baby girl arriving in May 2026,” Leavitt shared on Instagram on Friday, December 26. “We are so excited to expand our family and can’t wait to see our son become a big brother. I am deeply thankful to God for this gift of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest experience to Heaven on Earth.”

The spokesperson for the Trump administration provided a sneak peek at her baby bump along with an early ultrasound image in a cheery Instagram post.

Leavitt expressed her “immense gratitude” to her boss, President Donald Trump, and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles for promoting a pro-family atmosphere within the White House.

She added, “I’m looking forward to 2026 — it’s going to be an amazing year as I embrace being a girl mom!”

Leavitt confirmed her engagement to real estate developer Riccio in December 2023. They welcomed their son, Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, in July 2024, with Leavitt returning to her work on Trump’s 2024 reelection campaign just days after giving birth.

At that time, Leavitt celebrated the birth of her son, emphasizing that there is “nothing that compares to the love you feel for your child.”

“My heart has expanded in ways I never thought possible,” she stated on Instagram in July 2024. “Babies are the ultimate blessing, and I’m filled with gratitude for our beautiful, happy, healthy boy.”

The Trump administration spokesperson, who previously ran for the United States House of Representatives in New Hampshire and was defeated by Chris Pappas in 2022, has occasionally discussed her 32-year age difference with her husband. In May, she revealed on The Megyn Kelly Show that she and Riccio share a “very unconventional love story.”

Leavitt shared that they met through a mutual friend hosting “an event at a restaurant” in New Hampshire. They tied the knot just days before Trump, 79, was inaugurated for his second term in January 2025.

“[Riccio] is amazing,” she gushed on The Megyn Kelly Show. “He’s the father of my child, and he’s the best dad I could ever hope for. He is incredibly supportive, especially during these chaotic times… I often say, ‘I stepped into your life, and it’s been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him, he’s fully onboard.”

Recently, the White House press secretary admitted on “Pod Force One with Miranda Devine” in November that her family had difficulty accepting her “unusual” age-gap relationship, especially since her mother is actually younger than Riccio.

“It was certainly a challenging conversation at first,” she explained. “But once they got to know him and saw his character and how much he cherishes me, it became much easier for them.”

Many celebrities grew their families in 2025. Bachelor Nation alum Krystal Nielson faced “complications” during childbirth but successfully welcomed her second child with husband Miles Bowles in November, coinciding with the arrival of fellow franchise alum Hannah Ann Sluss’s first baby. “Forever grateful for the gift God placed in our arms on 11/20. Leavitt continued, “Now we’re all friends. It’s just a typical family dynamic. My husband respects my parents deeply and appreciates how they raised me, and we have a wonderful time together during their visits.”

She also mentioned on “Pod Force One with Miranda Devine” that her marriage thrives because Riccio is “very introverted” and prefers to stay out of the public eye.

“He prefers to remain behind the scenes. He’s not on social media and is very private, yet he’s an incredibly involved father,” she noted. “He and my son share the sweetest bond. He’s an extraordinary man and my biggest supporter. He watches every interview and press briefing.”
