Dylan Efron Can’t Picture Ashley Tisdale in Mom Group Drama

Dylan Efron is stepping up to support Ashley Tisdale French amidst her current mom group controversy.

Dylan, 33, whose brother Zac Efron starred alongside Tisdale French in the High School Musical series, was asked about the situation during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Wednesday, January 21.

“I try to stay out of that, so I don’t know too much,” Dylan stated. “All I know is, Ashley has always been so kind to me since I was a kid. So I can’t imagine her doing anything harmful to the mom group. Hopefully, it’s just a misunderstanding. Honestly, I’m not sure what’s happening.”

“Seems like more than a misunderstanding,” added host Andy Cohen.

Dylan remarked, “Honestly, I don’t know what happened. All I can say is she’s been so kind. She attended Dancing With the Stars to support me. I can’t fathom where this drama is coming from. She’s such a nice person.”

Indeed, Tisdale French, 40, along with High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, was there to cheer for Dylan during his participation in Dancing With the Stars season 34 last October.

The former Disney Channel star has been at the center of social media speculation following her January 1 essay in The Cut, where she discussed leaving a mom friendship group she described as toxic.

While Tisdale French did not specifically name any moms in her circle, she has previously shared experiences of playdates with other celebrities, including Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor, and Hilary Duff, all of whom have young children. At the time, Tisdale French’s representative dismissed the idea that her essay was about Moore, Trainor, or Duff.

Ashley Tisdale French ignited controversy with her previously close circle of celebrity moms after she abruptly departed the group and wrote an essay addressing her former friends’ “toxic” behavior. “The issues stemmed from some of the women forming closer friendships with each other, leaving Ashley feeling sidelined…”

In the article, titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” Tisdale expressed, “I remember being left out of a couple of group outings, and I knew they were happening because Instagram made sure to show me every single photo and Instagram Story.”

“I began to feel excluded from the group, noticing all the subtle ways they seemed to leave me out. … I kept convincing myself it was all in my head and that it wasn’t significant,” Tisdale French continued. “However, I sensed a growing divide between me and the other group members, who didn’t even seem to notice my absence.”

Tisdale French revealed that she left the group after texting her fellow moms, stating, “this is too high school for me, and I no longer wish to be a part of it.”

“It didn’t exactly go over well,” she shared. “Some members attempted to amend things. One even sent flowers but then ignored me when I thanked her. … To clarify, I’ve never seen the moms as bad people (maybe one). I just believe our group dynamic ceased to be healthy and positive—for me, at least.”

Trainor has previously denied any connection to Tisdale French’s mom group issues. Moore and Duff have not made any public comments regarding the situation.
