Quinton Aaron’s Family Provides Encouraging Update Following His Spinal Stroke

Quinton Aaron’s family has provided an encouraging update regarding the The Blind Side actor following his hospitalization due to a “spinal stroke.”

At 41 years old, Quinton is remaining optimistic during his recovery and is eager to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday, as shared by the Aaron family in a statement to Us Weekly on Friday, February 6.

“Quinton is in good spirits, now laughing and smiling, and he is communicating as best as he can while he continues to recover,” the statement indicated. “He’s watching television and gearing up to support his favorite team this weekend.”

On January 29, the Aaron family confirmed that Quinton had been taken to an Atlanta hospital after suffering a “spinal stroke.” He experienced a loss of function in his legs while ascending the stairs in his apartment, which led to his collapse.

At that time, the family expressed their gratitude, stating, “We know you’ve heard about Quinton Aaron’s condition. We appreciate the tremendous love, support, and prayers that Quinton has received over the past few days from his fans, the public, and our concerned community.”

In their statement, they provided a health update about the actor.

“He is alert, aware, and on the mend. The Aaron family has a lot to navigate for the well-being of their loved one, but we will ensure to keep everyone updated about Quinton’s health as necessary,” it continued.

The family also emphasized that accurate information regarding Quinton’s health will only come from a “blood relative” via their spokesperson and “lifelong friend” Liana Mendoza, urging the public to disregard misinformation from other sources.

News first emerged on January 25 about Quinton’s hospitalization. Days later, his wife, Margarita Aaron, confirmed to TMZ that he was on life support but exhibiting signs of improvement.

A GoFundMe page was established by the Veterans Aids Network—an organization Quinton has previously collaborated with. The page aimed to raise funds to assist his family during his recovery.

“Quinton is one of the most kind-hearted, genuine individuals you could ever meet,” the GoFundMe page stated. “He is consistently there for others, offering encouragement and support freely, often without seeking anything in return. Today, he needs us to be there for him.”

The page went on, “Quinton has dedicated his life to inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still hold value in our lives. Now, as he faces one of the toughest battles of his life, let’s wrap him and his loved ones in that same compassion, strength, and care.”

Quinton is widely recognized for his role as former NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher in The Blind Side. Notable actors such as Tim McGraw, Lily Collins, and Sandra Bullock starred alongside him in the 2009 film.

The actor faced another health crisis just last year. In March 2025, he was admitted to a hospital with a fever and a severe cough, suspecting he was suffering from Type A flu compounded with pneumonia before his discharge.
