Hayden Christensen Provides Insight Into His Relationship with His Daughter
Hayden Christensen enjoys quality time with his 11-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, regardless of the activity they choose.
“I have a young daughter, and I love watching shows with her,” Christensen, 45, shared with MTV UK at the 2026 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Friday, August 14. “Right now, her favorite shows are Liv and Maddie and Henry Danger, so I enjoy watching those with her.”
Christensen, who co-parents Briar with ex Rachel Bilson, also branches out from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon programming when his daughter isn’t around.
“I recently got into The Agency featuring Michael Fassbender,” he expressed at the red carpet event for the popular Showtime series. “It’s really good.”
On Friday, Christensen took the opportunity to announce his upcoming role in the second season of Ahsoka. Disney officially confirmed during its annual fan expo that he will reprise his role as Force ghost Anakin in the Star Wars series.
Christensen is well-known for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker, the young Darth Vader, in the beloved franchise, though Briar is not yet familiar with the Star Wars films.
“She’s not aware that her dad is one of the biggest villains of all time,” Bilson, 44, exclusively told Us in 2020. “When that day comes, I’m not sure how that will play out in school because no one will mess with her!”
Fast forward two years, and Christensen revealed Briar has finally recognized his Star Wars legacy. She even became his “first lightsaber training partner” for Disney+’s Obi-Wan.
“She knows Daddy’s Darth Vader, [but] she’s never seen Daddy as Darth Vader,” he disclosed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2022. “I’m holding off a bit, you know, until I show her. I might let her watch the prequels soon, but there are a few scenes we might need to skip.”
Christensen and Bilson were in a relationship from 2007 to 2017, welcoming Briar in 2014 before their separation. The former couple has since remained dedicated to co-parenting their daughter.
“Our arrangement is quite unique. We do a lot of activities together—quite a bit,” the Hart of Dixie actress shared on a January episode of the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast regarding her relationship with Christensen. “We’ve managed to keep things very amicable and pleasant for [Briar]. Since we were never married, we just found our own way. [My advice for other co-parents] is open communication and being willing to compromise often.”
Bilson further noted at the time, “I’m very close to his family, and it’s been almost 19 years or something, which is quite a long time. It all feels like [water under the bridge].”
