Erin Andrews Opens Up About Feeling Mom Guilt Due to Her Travel Schedule
Erin Andrews is candidly discussing the issue of mom guilt.
“I felt the urge to go back home due to a lot of guilt I’ve been feeling, and I’ve learned quite a bit about it this week,” Andrews, 47, shared during the February 12 episode of her “Calm Down” podcast alongside Charissa Thompson. She elaborated on her emotions while traveling for her role as a sports commentator. “Being on the road so much has made me feel like I’m missing precious time with my child.”
She mentioned that she opted to return to Los Angeles for one night after her work trip to San Francisco so she could spend time with her husband Jarret Stoll and their son, Mack, who is 2.
“It was a very brief trip,” she recounted. “I managed to see Mack before his bedtime. Unfortunately, he was in a terrible mood. Jarret looked at me and said, ‘Thank you so much for coming home. I really appreciate it.’ So, I felt comforted. But then I woke up the next day, and he was still in a bad mood. After that, I was back on a plane.”
Andrews expressed her struggles with mom guilt, wanting to be “everything he needs and more.” Thompson, 43, reassured her that she is doing just that.
“Well, I spend considerable time away from home,” Andrews replied. “So, I feel guilty for missing a lot of moments. That’s why I thought, ‘I’ll come home, and we’ll share a nice evening together.’ But still, the effort was important. That meant a lot.”
Additionally, Andrews shared parenting advice she received from Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has four daughters with wife Kelly Stafford, and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who has two daughters with fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos.
“Matthew and Dak discussed how essential it is to prioritize family time and how that enhances their performance both as football players and fathers,” she explained. “They manage their daytime responsibilities, so when the kids return home or they come home, it’s completely dedicated family time. After the kids are in bed, they can catch up on their game film.”
Andrews plans to adopt a similar strategy during the 2026 football season.
“I won’t be able to completely disconnect from my phone, as that’s difficult, but I’ll have to communicate to others, ‘I can discuss this later.’ It’s just too challenging to handle everything at once. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of my guilt. We’ll see how it goes,” she concluded.
Andrews and Stoll, 43, got married in 2017 and welcomed Mack via surrogate in June 2023.
In May 2025, Andrews disclosed that her surrogate experienced a miscarriage with her second pregnancy.
“We received some unfortunate news today that our surrogate had a miscarriage. I’ve faced this before, but we were thrilled because everything had been progressing well. I even shared great news with you all a few weeks ago,” Andrews recounted on her podcast.
“I’ve been reflecting on Taylor Swift’s song ‘I Can Do It with a Broken Heart.’ I have a knack for handling difficult emotions while feeling heartbroken,” she continued. “I made a promise to myself to be transparent about how tough infertility has been and our experience with two surrogates. We faced loss with our first surrogate, but fortunately, we welcomed Mack with the second.”
