Laura Dern to Headline New Series Exploring Epstein Scandal
A new television series focusing on the investigation into the late billionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein is reportedly in development at Sony Pictures Television.
Variety initially reported this update in March 2026, revealing that the series will draw from Miami Herald journalist Julie K. Brown’s 2021 book Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story.
Brown is noted for reopening the sexual abuse case against Epstein in 2018, ten years after his initial 2008 arrest in Florida, where he accepted a plea deal for child sex offenses.
Beginning her investigation in 2017, Brown connected with over 80 of Epstein’s alleged victims, with eight willing to publicly share their experiences of abuse while they were minors.
Epstein was arrested again in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges and tragically died by suicide in August 2019 while awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City at the age of 66.
Brown’s book, released two years after Epstein’s death, elaborates on her three-part Miami Herald series, and the upcoming show aims to do the same.

Who Will Star in the Jeffrey Epstein Series?
According to Variety’s March 2026 report, Laura Dern will portray Brown in the miniseries. The actress is yet to comment on the news publicly.
While further cast members are still undisclosed, the series will be executive produced by Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, along with Dern and Brown. Eileen Myers will serve as an executive producer and co-showrunner with Sharon Hoffman, who is adapting the book for the screen.
What Will the Jeffrey Epstein Series Be About?
The series promises to deliver “an explosive account of an investigative reporter illuminating the secret plea deal executed between Epstein and federal prosecutors,” as stated by Variety.
“Utilizing Brown’s background as a pioneering reporter for the Miami Herald, the book and the limited series chronicle her relentless years-long investigation that identified 80 victims, convinced key survivors to share their stories, and ultimately led to the arrests of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” continued the description.

When Will the Jeffrey Epstein Series Premiere?
Details regarding the series remain confidential, and a network has yet to be assigned.
Although there have been several documentaries on the subject, this upcoming series will be the first scripted portrayal of the Epstein scandal.
