Katie Maloney Reveals Details About Her Fallout with Stassi Schroeder
Katie Maloney and Stassi Schroeder are ready to spill the tea in their upcoming Hulu series.
“It’s picking up from where our lives currently are and the people within them,” Katie, 40, shared on the Monday, May 4, episode of the “Humble Brag” podcast, discussing the premise of their new show, House of Stassi.
Katie mentioned that “a lot” of Stassi’s storyline focuses on family, featuring her husband, Beau Clark, and their two children, Hartford, 5, and Messer, 2.
“So this will really document our journey back to friendship at this stage in our lives, which is quite different,” Katie teased. “We’re on very different paths right now. She’s married with two kids, while I’m divorced and dating someone new.”
Katie, who was married to VPR costar Tom Schwartz from 2019 to 2022 after being together for over a decade, called the show “really wonderful” due to its authenticity.
“There’s something beautiful about friendships that endure from your 20s into your 40s,” she said. “We’re different people now, yet we still share love and appreciation. It’s all about navigating that.”
Katie explained that House of Stassi focuses on documenting “what that journey looks like” between her and Stassi, highlighting the “naturally occurring conflicts” that arise as friends grow individually and sometimes apart.
She joked that it’s not like VPR, where cast members would sometimes stir the pot to create drama.
This show’s journey centers on both women wanting to “speak your mind and lay it all on the table,” ultimately aiming for “resolution at the end of the day.”
As VPR fans know, Katie and Stassi enjoyed a close friendship for many years after the show premiered in 2013. (The show saw a revival in 2024 with a new cast following the infamous Scandoval controversy.)

Although the duo appeared friendly after Stassi’s dismissal from the show in 2020, speculation arose about a rift as they were seen together less frequently.
“I need to clarify,” Stassi commented on a TikTok video in 2024, seemingly putting the rumors to rest. “I’m not on Vanderpump Rules. I’m not on any team. That’s not my life anymore. I have my own friendships. Friendships ebb and flow without being nefarious.”
Katie spoke on the rumors surrounding her relationship with Stassi during an appearance on the “Off the Vine” podcast that same year.
“Yeah, I mean, Stassi has two kids now,” Katie explained when asked about the situation. “While I wish we could spend more time together—just like many friends with kids—I think maybe once things balance out a bit more, we can hang out.”
Stassi confirmed their past rift last month while discussing House of Stassi.
“No one knows that we had a falling out for years,” she revealed to Marie Claire in an interview published on April 27. “Now we’re rebuilding our friendship after growing in completely different directions.”
Katie, for her part, shared with podcast listeners that this reality show “feels like it has a different life,” expressing excitement for viewers to witness her and Stassi’s current relationship.
House of Stassi is set to premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, July 29.
