Steven McBee Jr. Announces Early Release of Father Steve Sr. from Prison

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys stars are preparing to bring Steven “Steve” McBee Sr. home sooner than expected during his two-year prison term, Us Weekly can confirm exclusively.

“We are grateful that we have less than two months until he returns,” Steve’s eldest son, Steven McBee Jr., shared with Us on Thursday, July 16, clarifying that the farmer will not serve his full sentence for crop insurance fraud in South Dakota, where he is currently incarcerated.

At 33, Steven disclosed that his father, aged 54, “successfully enrolled in a program that reduces his time served.”

He added that once his father is freed from FPC Yankton in Yankton, “He’ll be under home confinement for four to six months, but he will get out early.”

Us Weekly has contacted FPC Yankton for a statement.

Steve and his four sons, Steven, Jesse, Cole, and Brayden McBee, gained fame when season 1 of their Bravo series premiered in 2024, showcasing their lives managing McBee Farm & Cattle Co. in Missouri.

After filming wrapped for that season, Steve made headlines for being charged with a count of crop insurance fraud in November 2024.

Steve admitted guilt that same month, admitting that his farm sold “over 1.2 million bushels of corn and nearly 416,000 bushels of soybeans” to another party in 2018, as stated in a press release.

In October 2025, Steve received a 24-month prison sentence with an additional two years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $4,022,124 in restitution. During a June episode of The McBee Dynasty, viewers learned that Steve — and his farm — were also mandated to pay $3 million in fines.

A judge mandated that Steve self-surrender on December 1, 2025, to commence his prison term, which fans will witness on the Monday, July 20, episode of the Bravo series.

According to Steven, his father will be released from jail after serving less than a year behind bars, yet their family has greatly felt his absence.

Steven conveyed to Us on Thursday that his dad’s departure resulted in a “drastic change,” mentioning that they’ve “worked to fill the void he left by having dinners at my house.”

As the current CEO of their family business, Steven shared that his brothers Cole and Jesse visit often with their partners and daughters, but something significant is missing.

“It’s simply not the same without [my dad] here, without question,” Steven admitted. “His laughter, jokes, and positive spirit — we’ve all been missing it.”

Though Steven suggested viewers can expect to see the emotional prison drop-off in the upcoming episode, he has consistently maintained communication with his father.

Steven noted that he emails Steve “once every week or so” and they chat on the phone “approximately every two weeks.”

Regarding Steve’s return to Missouri, Steven expressed that family dinners are what he eagerly anticipates most — and hopes to see his dad take a break.

“My dad has been managing businesses since he was 22, which means over 30 years of always being on the move. His phone is constantly buzzing,” said Steven to Us, reflecting on his father’s life before prison. “I believe this has given him a chance to pause and reflect: ‘Do we need to dominate every business opportunity? Do we need 100 car washes? Do we need to expand?’ The answer is no.”

While Steven hopes his father can fully “appreciate the moments that truly matter to us,” which include family gatherings and “enjoying sunsets at the farm,” he will soon be collaborating with his sons.

The McBee Dynasty brothers pledged to showcase “the good, the bad, and the ugly” on their reality show — including their unfiltered responses to dad Steve McBee’s FBI investigation. “It’s incredibly challenging because that is always present in your mind, no matter what you’re doing,” oldest son Steven McBee Jr. exclusively stated to Us […]

“As for my dad’s role, when he gets out, we joke as a family, saying, ‘We’ll keep him on a leash when he’s back,’” Steven joked. “He’ll have significant restrictions on what he can do and will focus on a single project.”

Steven explained that although Steve is their “hardest worker,” they often joke he has “squirrel brain” because he can maintain focus for only “five seconds” before moving on to something else.

“We’re going to rein him in and say, ‘Here is your single project. Complete this before moving onto anything else,’” he told Us with a chuckle. “He’ll definitely have substantial limitations on what he can undertake.”
