John Travolta’s Viral Cannes Look: Beret and Glasses Steal the Show

John Travolta shared his thoughts on the unique look he’s been showcasing at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Old school directors wore berets and glasses, so I thought, ‘That’s the vibe I’m going for,’” Travolta, 72, mentioned while speaking with CNN on Monday, May 18, regarding his stylish accessories at the illustrious event.

“I’ve spent over 50 years in the film industry, but when I reflect back, the events start to blend. I told myself, this time I’m a director. Act like a director and embrace that classic look,” Travolta remarked.

The Grease star elaborated that he had studied images of directors from the “20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s,” intending to “pay tribute to the essence of directing.” He added, “This way, when I look back, I’ll clearly remember, ‘That was Propeller One-Way Night Coach at Cannes, where I won the Pale d’Or.’ I will have a clear recollection of it.”
