Millie Bobby Brown Stands Up for Husband Jake Bongiovi’s Parenting Skills
Millie Bobby Brown embodies strength and independence, not relying on anyone else to manage her things.
“Hey, I’m Millie Bobby Brown, and I have to ask, when did women stop being able to handle their own bags, car seats, and other items?” Brown, 22, expressed in a teaser for the Thursday, June 10, episode of the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. “This thought comes from me lugging all my suitcases and bags, along with my kid, while people comment, ‘Your husband isn’t carrying anything.’ But I’m already three miles ahead, having planned this all night.”
Earlier this year, Brown and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, became a sensation on social media when paparazzi photos of them with their daughter emerged. In one image, the Stranger Things star was seen pushing a stroller while her husband strolled nearby without any bags.
“We promote empowerment for girls, championing, ‘You can do it,’ and ‘You don’t need a man.’ Yet when I assert, ‘I can carry my own stuff,’ people wonder, ‘Where’s your husband?’” Brown shared. “I can manage on my own. Nobody knows my husband personally. He’s the kindest and most helpful partner, but he understands that I’m strong.”
Podcast host Kylie Kelce — who has four daughters with husband Jason Kelce — quickly resonated with her guest and shared her insights.
“I absolutely love this,” Kylie, 34, exclaimed. “So many times people approach me asking, ‘Do you need help with that bag?’ and I’m like, ‘Thanks, but if I needed help, I’d ask.’ The first person I’d call — you guessed it — is my husband. Thanks!”
While Kylie appreciates the concept of chivalry and doesn’t want it to die out, she stressed that men shouldn’t underestimate women’s strength.

“I want politeness and consideration towards women, but don’t treat me like I’m fragile or incapable,” she added.
Brown responded, “I’m not fragile!”
In August 2025, Brown delighted fans by announcing the arrival of her first baby with Bongiovi, 24.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the couple announced via Instagram in a joint statement. “We are thrilled to begin this beautiful new journey into parenthood, both in peace and privacy. And now we are three. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi.”
Although Brown aims to keep her personal life private from social media and the Hollywood scene, she shared a rare image of her daughter in February to mark a special birthday.
“22. Thankful for my husband and daughter, my family and friends, and all my animals,” she posted via Instagram at the time. “I feel so blessed. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Xoxo.”
