Millie Bobby Brown Shares Her Biggest Challenge in the Adoption Journey
Millie Bobby Brown is sharing insights on the challenges of adoption.
During her motherhood journey on the June 11 episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, the Stranger Things actress, 22, acknowledged that some aspects of the process can be particularly challenging.
“Every journey is different. Waiting for the call is the most difficult part,” Brown noted.
Offering her advice to those navigating a similar path, Brown remarked, “I always encourage you to understand that every journey is unique. Avoid comparing yourself to others, ignoring statistics, and don’t measure your family against other families. Your baby is out there, and you will eventually find one another.”
Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi, who got married in May 2024, shared the exciting news of their baby girl’s adoption last year.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” Brown and Bongiovi announced in a joint Instagram statement in August 2025. “We are incredibly excited to step into this beautiful new chapter of parenthood with both peace and privacy. And then there were three. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi.”

On the podcast, Brown also responded to the harsh scrutiny she’s faced since becoming a first-time parent.
“I thought, ‘This is brutal, you are brutal,’ and I don’t have time for angry women who feel the need to tear you down, especially regarding motherhood,” Brown expressed on the podcast. “I’ve never encountered anything like this. I can usually brush off comments like, ‘Oh, you showed your nipples? What a disgrace!’ But when it’s, ‘You didn’t put a hat on your baby?’ I’m like, ‘Go ahead and try to put a beanie on her. I dare you.’”
Brown continued, “Mind your own business, put a hat on your baby, and keep quiet. Apologies, the English is coming out in me, but it’s absolutely true.”
The Enola Holmes 3 star has always been open about her wish to start a family at a young age.
“My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19,” she shared on the “Smartless” podcast in March 2025. “It’s been my dream since before I met Jake. Ever since I was a child, I told my mom I wanted to be a mom just like she was to me.”
Brown emphasized that Bongiovi understood the importance of starting a family sooner rather than later.
“I aim to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and a producer, but it’s also crucial for me to start a family,” she stated. “It’s a major goal. Jake was clear that we couldn’t embark on that journey until we were married. That was his stance.”
