Friend of Love Island USA Bombshell Alannah Responds to Racism Allegations
Love Island USA newcomer Alannah Keyser is facing scrutiny after an old video surfaced, purportedly showing her using a racial slur.
Alannah first appeared at Casa Amor in the episode aired on June 21. Following her participation in the heart rate challenge, social media users swiftly shared a throwback video that seemed to feature a woman singing along and using the N-word.
Us Weekly has reached out to Peacock for a statement, but it remains unconfirmed if Alannah is indeed the individual in the video.
In light of the situation, Alannah’s friend Nick Rogers has come forward to defend her.
“She is an incredibly kind person, and I have never seen any racist behavior from her,” Nick stated via TikTok on June 22. “I would never consider Alannah to be racist.”
He described recent screenshots claiming to be Alannah’s Snapchat messages as “fake,” stating, “I can’t envision Alannah posting that on social media. With AI and other technology, such incidents can easily be manipulated.”
On the topic of the video where Alannah appeared to lip-sync a verse containing a slur, Nick remarked:
“After reviewing the video, I can’t definitively say whether she is saying the N-word. It’s a sensitive topic that has sparked considerable debate over time, and I agree that it’s inappropriate for anyone who is not Black to use that term.”
Nick also acknowledged that the context of when the video was recorded was different, noting, “Back then, around 2016 and 2017, that word was used much more freely. I attended a very diverse high school where many people used it. It doesn’t justify it, but I wanted to share my perspective.”
He wrapped up his comments by saying, “I believe Alannah is a wonderful person and I wouldn’t use potentially false information to judge her character.”
Earlier this season, another contestant, Vasana Montgomery, was removed from season 8 of Love Island USA after social media posts surfaced showing her using a slur. She was dismissed before entering the villa, as producers were unaware of the posts during casting.
“I want to address a couple of videos from my teenage years that have recently come to light,” she shared via her Instagram Story in June. “In those clips, I used a racial slur. I am embarrassed and disappointed in my words.”
Vasana expressed her desire to take responsibility for her past actions.
“I fully accept accountability for what I said and understand why it has caused hurt and frustration,” she added. “Since then, I have grown significantly and taken the time to educate myself and understand the impact that language can have.”
Vasana concluded, “My growth doesn’t negate my past mistakes, and I’m not seeking anyone’s forgiveness. I believe in holding people accountable, but I also believe in personal growth and becoming better. To anyone I have hurt or disappointed, I sincerely apologize.”
