Did Dutton Ranch Cause Annette Bening’s Heart Attack?
Dutton Ranch has once again shown that no one is safe, hinting at a possible heart attack for one of its main characters.
In the episode aired on Friday, June 19, the Paramount+ series featured Beulah (Annette Bening) attempting to host a town gathering that quickly spiraled out of control. Her speech regarding the transfer of business turned into an ominous announcement for Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba), delivering the harsh news that he is next in line.
The tension escalated throughout the evening, culminating in Beulah experiencing a medical emergency. Raba, aged 49, shared his thoughts on this shocking moment onscreen.
“There’s so much story to tell right here,” he teased exclusively to Us Weekly. “But I know as much as you do.”
Yellowstone initially introduced audiences to the Dutton family back in 2018. The Paramount Network program concluded in 2024, expanding its universe with Luke Grimes‘ CBS series Marshals and the new Dutton Ranch, which premiered in May.
Just earlier this month, cast member Marc Menchaca expressed his concerns about the fatal twists on the show impacting his character, Zachariah, stating to Us, “It’s always a possibility — and I have a pretty good track record of saying goodbye on a show.”
Menchaca, aged 50, humorously acknowledged his unfortunate luck in on-screen roles.
“My wife [Lena Headey] created a death reel for me for my birthday last year. It lasted about 10 minutes and didn’t even include all my deaths,” he joked. “So, I was a little concerned.”
He added: “I thought, ‘They may eliminate me, so I better be on everyone’s good side.’ I hope it won’t happen, but given the current scripts, you only get them a little ahead of time. Then you start going through them thinking, ‘Is it going to happen this scene?’ Thankfully, it hasn’t [yet].”
Meanwhile, Raba recounted a moment of fear regarding his character’s future on the show.
“When I received episode 6 and saw Chet approaching me with a gun, my first thought was, ‘Well, it was nice while it lasted,’” he quipped to Us. “I thought, ‘God, this is so brief. But why didn’t they inform me? That’s impolite.’”
He continued, “You hope for the best and wish for a long run. But you never really know. I truly hope we can extend this for many seasons because I believe there is so much more to explore.”
Dutton Ranch airs on Fridays on Paramount+.
