Mormon Wives’ Layla Taylor Opens Up About Losing Her Virginity

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor opened up about her age when she first lost her virginity.

In the episode airing on Monday, June 29, of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast, Taylor, 25, shared insights on her complicated relationship with her parents.

“I think [I wish I got] just a little bit more support. I spent a lot of my childhood hiding things from my parents because I was really afraid of their reactions,” she expressed. “Even about small things. For instance, I lost my virginity at 15, and I don’t think my parents even know that to this day.”

Coming out as bisexual during the podcast, Taylor shared that she was “very terrified” to discuss intimate aspects of her life with her mom and dad.

“Even when I started to have feelings [for women] and began to process those thoughts, I would have never approached them in a million years,” she noted. “I believe that’s why I felt the need to stay closeted for so long, as I lacked the supportive environment I wished I had growing up.”

Taylor also recounted her inadequate sex education, stating, “Honestly, that’s one reason I likely got pregnant at a young age. I became a mom at 19, and it felt like it wasn’t really something they avoided discussing.”

She continued: “While they occasionally made brief comments, we never had those important talks. I had to figure everything out on my own.”

The reality star also reflected on embracing her sexuality after her divorce from Clayton Wessell and her recent breakup with Mason McWhorter.

“For a long time, I downplayed it,” she admitted. “[But now] I finally feel like I’m in a phase of my life where I’m done hiding who I am. I’m proud to show every aspect of Layla to the world.”

She added: “I feel like I was never truly in a place where I could authentically focus on it. Honestly, that breakup was a blessing in disguise, as it allowed me to focus on Layla and discover who I really am.”

Following her relationship with Mason, Taylor found a new partner through social media.

“[Women are] often more emotionally aware of certain things and incredibly patient,” Taylor shared. “The person I’m currently talking to has been very understanding, letting me navigate this at my own pace since it’s still new and unfamiliar for me. It’s about that level of understanding and support.”
